Can we request CSC to expedite our petition? It's been 4 months and we still haven't received our NOA2. Thanks.

You certainly can try to expedite your petition. However, USCIS expedite criteria are pretty strict. Your case is still within the normal processing times.

Good luck and keep us posted! :thumbs:

Okay, everyone seems to say we're still on the normal timeline. We're just wondering why it's taking CSC so long to send us NOA2 when in fact some cases only took 2 months.

I completely understand. Some cases are approved faster. Different service centers, different adjudicators, different cases, different approval times.

In my daughter's case, we waited the full 5 months. Then, we contacted our congressman to make an inquiry. Our petition was approved the next day. You can try to write your congressman. IMO, you'll have a better shot at an early approval with this than a USCIS expedite.

Good luck with your case! Hang in there! :thumbs:

Oh, so you mean my US Citizen fiance should write his representative to speed up our case? Is this guaranteed?

Your fiance can contact his state representatives. The congressional liaison will ONLY inquire the status of your case. They cannot pressure USCIS to make a decision. It is NOT guaranteed, in any way. USCIS will actually view your case and MAY decide to approve your case immediately.

Sure you can, especially if you meet one of the few criteria that they accept for expedites.

Other than that, you wait, along with everyone else.

Ok, just wondering why my case is taking longer than some applicants.. their NOA2 arrived after 2 months only..hope we get going soon!!!

Maybe those applicants met expedite criteria. Even those who didn't apply for expedites and waited barely 2 months don't know how they got so lucky. They are the unusual ones so don't feel like your case is being delayed for any particular reason - everyone's wait is far too long.

April, 2009 - We met

May, 2009 - We wooed

June, 2010 - We got engaged, looking forward to a small August 2010 wedding

** Reality Check: K-1 Process**

July 22, 2010 - NOA1

**5 months of patient waiting**

December 29, 2011 - call around for information about delay

January 5, 2011 - RFE notice (first online status update yet!)

January 10, 2011 - RFE Hardcopy

January 13, 2011 - RFE Response acknowledged

January 24, 2011 - NOA2 (at last!!)

February 3, 2011 - application sent from NVC to Montreal (aka. the Abyss?)

March 7, 2011 - Packet 3 sent to me

March 10, 2011 - Packet 3 delivered to Montreal

March 21, 2011 - Packet 4 sent to me

April 5, 2011 - Medical

April 13, 2011 - Interview - approved!

April 20, 2011 - visa in hand

May 9, 2011 - POE (Buffalo, NY)

May 10, 2011 - wedding :)

I want to ask u guys I live in syria and there is war and it's not safe so do I meet the expedite criteria?

Hi Shahed,

Your fiance can ask for the case to be expedited if she can prove one of the following

  • Emergency situation;
  • Humanitarian reasons;

amongst other things. So I believe a war would warrant the above mentioned.

Read this link to get a better idea when they will expedite the case.
