Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 13, 2011
Embassy Review : I arrived at the US embassy around 5:15 AM and quite a number of people were already queuing up for the immigrant/fiancee visa lane. I got my BPI receipt, appointment letter and passport ready since these are the first few docs to present to the greeter staff before entering the embassy. The greeter staff will give you a sheet of paper for you to fill out after the interview, it's for the courier service that will deliver your passport to your address of choice. Upon entering the embassy, you will have to go through a check point area and then you will be led to the 3 windows where you will present your DS forms, appointment letter and BPI receipt. You will be given a stub showing your number which will be flashed on a screen in the waiting area.

By 7:45 AM I was already at the window that called my number for pre-screening. I was assigned to be pre-screened by a Filipino guy who seemed to be quite snotty He asked me the ff. questions (as far as my sleepy memory could remember..hehe!)

1. Where is your fiance right now?
My answer - He's in the US.
He retorted - The US is such a big place, would you mind telling me what state he's in now?
My answer - Oh yeah, sorry for that. My fiance's in San Jose, California.

->See how FRIENDLY AND NICE THIS PRE-SCREENER WAS?

2. How did you meet your fiance?
3. How long have you been together?
4. What does he do for a living?
5. When do you intend to get married?
6. So, do you have a ring?

Then he asked for our photos, correspondences, my certificates and evidence of support. He barely looked at our photos and letters, just scanned through them.
He returned my extra visa photos. He wasn't speaking so clearly through the window inspite of having a microphone so I thought he was asking me for another piece of visa photo. He snottily told me, "No, that's yours."

I just thanked him after that and went back to find a seat and waited for my turn for the finger scanning. This part was pretty easy and the lady at that counter was nice!

By 9:45 AM my number was flashed on the screen signalling me for my last interview. I prayed. dear God, this is it. Let's do this!

It was an American guy who interviewed me. He was nice too. Funny that his first question was "Did you ever use the name Bolsa?" And I was like, "Huh? No. Not ever." He was checking to see if I used any other names aside from what I wrote on the forms. Of all names, why Bolsa? Haha.

Anyway, he went on to ask me the ff:
(basically these are the questions I could remember)

1. What's your full name?
2. Date of birth?
3. How did you meet your fiance?
4. What's his work?
5. What did you take up in college?
6. Do you intend to marry your petitioner within 90 days of your admission into the US? AND MY ANSWER WAS A SUPER RESOUNDING "YES SIR!!!"
7. How long have you been toge?
8. When do you intend to get married?

Then he said, "Okay, your visa is good. Please wait for your name to be called to instruct you how to get your passport."

I couldn't believe my ears. I left that window and smiled at myself, didnt care if the rest of the people sitting at the waiting area thought I was crazy by SMILING SO BIG! After a few moments I was called to go to Window 72 for final verification then proceeded to the window for courier service which was manned by an irresponsible lady who gave me incorrect info about 2Go Branch in my area =(

But anyway, so far so good. All our efforts paid off. Praise GOD for everything! I'm bound for the US soon! My sweetheart is sooooooo excited! And so am I
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
