Made 19,000 last year and will make 21,000 this not great but still 125% above the poverty line. Have about 2500 in my savings and 1000 in my checking. Sent last 4 w-2's which include my old job from the pretanked economy when I was making 2x what I get now.

Any rate embassy said she would become a public charge and I needed to have more in my savings. Didn't say how much though and wasn't happy about my current full time job. Question is does anyone have any idea what sort of numbers I need to have or should I just get my brother to cosponser and send that in? According to what my fiance says I have one year to appeal.

I am going to give you advice that will solve all your economic problems. It sounds like you are only trying to obtain enough income to support you and your fiance. Around 20,000 sounds about right. What if you could make double that while learning a new career? I am talking about getting into the trucking industry. Training for most big companies is handled internally and you pay them back over time. Starting pay is around $40,000 and goes up with each year of experience. There are 10 jobs for every driver now. Do research on Bubbajunk.com. Your fiance can ride with you. If she likes she can get her license after one year of having an operators permit and drive too. That would put your combined annual income well over the $120,000 mark and you would be together all the time. And if something happened to you she could easily take care of herself. Sound appealing to you? If you have a better idea, I am all ears.

A co-sponsor may not be accepted at USEM, but worth a try.

Also a letter from your employer stating this is a long-term job, that they intend to keep you on.

Can you get a part-time job, a couple of evenings flipping burgers or something?

Been trying to snag a second job and a letter from my employer was in the packet.

If your household size is two - you and your fiancee - then you make enough to qualify. You didn't even have to list your savings. Consular officers don't usually deny for "public charge" when the sponsor would be able to submit a sufficient I-864 unless there's something else bothering them.

First, the household size is two, correct? You don't have any children from a previous marriage, or spousal support payments to an ex-wife, and she doesn't have children that would be eligible for a K2 visa?

Do you have any tax debts that aren't resolved yet? Any other major debts that might come up in a background check? Either of you have any major chronic medical problems?

Also, did your fiance already interview and they turned her down for the public charge requirement? What's the current status of her visa application? Is it denied outright, or is it pending her submission of more documents?

Ok here are the details

1. Didn't look at 2007 2008 and 2010 Tax returns claims to not have them but I double and triple checked before I sent my forms that they were in there and the fiance has a copy of each in here packet (sent her two copies)

2. Doesn't believe that I paid my way to the PI in 2009 since I was unemployed (but collecting UE as shown in the 2009 Tax return)Can you get records from the bank showing that no cash jumped into my account at that time and that yes my card paid for the ticket? My receipt is gone because who goes on a mercy trip expecting to find a wife?

3. That 2009 seems to be the sticking point. Only collected UE for 7 months due to being in the PI on unpaid volunteer work (which I have a letter for in my packet). Couple that with the mysterious dissapearance of 3 other tax returns and I seem to never make money in his eyes. This is key as 2007 and 2008 were years of 35,000 dollar salaries.

4. Refused to accept my bank account records. They in fact never said anything about savings. They only guy to touch the bank statements just handed them back to her without looking at them.

5. Gave her a 212g asking for more payslips. Sent 3 they want more but they don't say how many. Will send the last one and the one I get next week. Anyone know if I can scan these or do I need to send them again?

Your 2007 and 2008 income tax returns are irrelevant. The consular officer is looking for current sustained income because he doesn't want your fiancée to become a public charge when she is in the U.S.

You should have received Visa statements and bank statements every month either by snail mail or online. If not, Visa statements and bank statements are readily available.

The consular officer is concerned with current sustained income. He will be looking at your 2010 income tax return and your 2011 pay stubs.

Submit all of your 2011 pay stubs. You can scan them and email them. However, keep in mind that the consular officer can ask for the originals.

PS...You didn't answer Jim's question about household size.

Can you show proof that you paid for your ticket, either with your bank account or a credit card? I

You can get free transcripts from the IRS for any tax years you need.
