Can't believe I have been in rotting in "Testing and Interview" status now for over 90 days. If my file has been ready since early February 2013, why are cases filed after me getting interview dates? There is just simply no logic to their reasoning.

Why is it so painful to file for AOS in New York City? There are three offices for crying out loud. Just so pissed off about this process.

2/25/13 (Day 57) EAD / AP Combo Card approved

6/21/13 (Day 173) AOS Interview in Long Island City, New York City. IO said "you should get card soon" during the interview

8/16/13 (Day 229) Mailed Congressional assistance inquiry form.

Are these NYC filers? You have to compare your timeline with others in NYC for the most part. Some other states are just quicker. Anyway since you filed in December, you should hear something soon, maybe for June. I know waiting sucks.

Yeah I am only tracking New York City cases when comparing myself to them. That's why I am frustrated since I have seen at least 5 cases who filed after me get interview appointments. It is one thing if we got RFE's or whatnot, but we have been in the "Testing and Interview" stage since February 6 now.

I am also starting to wonder whether there is even a more subtle split in terms of timeslines for NYC between the Holtsville, Long Island City and Federal Plaza offices. I am likely in Long Island City and that office seems like to be the bottleneck in this region at the moment. Long Island / Holtsville filers seem to have it the best thus far.

You can tell most likely the office you will be going to based on where your Biometrics appointment took place. Its not 100% guaranteed but my attorney told me the correlation is very high.

(1) Queens: Long Island City. (Those in Queens counties neighboring Long Island may get Holtsville)

(2) Manhattan, Brooklyn and Bronx: Federal Plaza.

(3) Yonkers / Westchester: Albany.

(4) Long Island: Holtsville.

So Bullan, since your Biometrics was at Varick Street, you are most likely Federal Plaza.

I was able to see other cases based on case tracker feature on www.trackitt.com and also just by looking at the timelines on this website for NYC specifically.

Based on my research, there seems to be no delay for EAD / AP. Its been the standard 55 = 65 days to approval from filing. Basically 25- 35 days after Biometrics appointment.

That is correct. Under most normal circumstances, most NYC filers will get their interview appointments 3-4 months from filing the application. Once the interview notification is received, it will be another 30-40 day wait until the day of the actual interview. In all, its a 4-7 month process in NYC.

I am currently on month #5 waiting for an interview date. Hopefully it will come soon enough.

Filed: Timeline

Hi there,

I've only joined the site a couple of days ago and haven't had time to do the timeline yet. We filed at the beginning of November 2012, I did my Biometrics in Port Chester (Westchester County) on December 26th 2012 and received my EAD card combo on January 16th in the mail. We had our interview on Wednesday May 1st at Federal Plaza, NYC. While the interview process seemed to go well, the IO said they would do further background checks. I'm unclear as to how long it will take for approval. The IO asked at the end if we had any questions so I asked her how long will we have to wait and she said "oh I don't know, I can't really say). Does anybody have any idea how long it takes, post-interview, for approval and Green Card?

Adjustment of Status

11/13/2012 - File submitted to USCIS

11/30/2012 - Cashed check

17/01/2013 - I485 ready for interview scheduling

Hey artist123,

There's a few of us in the same boat. I was interviewed on 5/6 and the poster "nitehero" was interviewed a few days before me and still no word. There really isn't any way of knowing when you'll hear from them. All we can do is wait. Brian & Ivy, who is also an NYC filer, was interviewed (and approved on the spot, though) on 2/13 and didn't get any updates till 2/27 (14 days).

Typically, you should give them 30 days before contacting USCIS by either an infopass or calling the 1-800 number.
