Hey artist123,

There's a few of us in the same boat. I was interviewed on 5/6 and the poster "nitehero" was interviewed a few days before me and still no word. There really isn't any way of knowing when you'll hear from them. All we can do is wait. Brian & Ivy, who is also an NYC filer, was interviewed (and approved on the spot, though) on 2/13 and didn't get any updates till 2/27 (14 days).

Typically, you should give them 30 days before contacting USCIS by either an infopass or calling the 1-800 number.

Hi FavoredOnes,

Thanks for the swift response! I only wish USCIS were as swift! It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since the interview. It is reassuring to see that there are others in the same boat and that we can inform eachother of progress. I also wonder if the Boston Bombings a few weeks ago, has had an impact on the process and perhaps this is why so many of us did not get on-the-spot approval at the interview. So many questions....so few answers....totally drained by it all. I was sure we would know at the the end of the interview. :-(

There are also a few NYC posters on different websites (trackitt.com and forums.immigraton.com) who had NYC interviews over the past month who are still waiting for a response. A fellow AOS'er from who had interview mid March 2013 just got his approval today.

Keep your chin up and hope for good news.

Still crossing my fingers that I will get my AP soon...

Is everyone of the New York filers waiting about 4 months for interview to be scheduled after "testing and interviewing" update? Is that like... 90% of the cases? is there anyone who had an interview date within the 30 days? I just wish we knew so we could plan our vacation this summer... Murphy's law dictates that I'll get the interview date on the day I leave the country.

To Bullan,

I think as a rule of thumb, expect the interview date to be somewhere within the 150-200 day mark. It is highly unlikely given their current backlog that they will be able to revert back to the 100-130 day range they were processing earlier in 2012.

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum. I had my AOS interview at the Federal Plaza on May 14th. The interview was short and no difficult questions were asked. The immigration officer told me at the end of the interview that the decision would be in the mail and confirmed my home address. However, the online status of my case has not been updated ever since. From reading some recent comments in this post, I am aware that it may take at least two weeks before the application can be approved in NYC nowadays. I wonder for those people who had their interviews a few days before mine (e.g.: FavoredOnes and Artist123), is your case approved now? If yes, how many days elapsed before your case is approved?

I am tracking a few other NYC cases on multiple websites. One poster did not get approved until 2 months after the interview. There are a bunch with late April to mid May interviews also still waiting for decisions. I have noticed that the trend has been that the Federal Plaza cases have been taking longer to get approval. Holtsville and LIC have been quicker.

To Striker_Immig,

Thanks for your information. I just received text msg and email saying that my I-130 has been approved on May 24, 2013, while my I-485 is still pending. However, I am less worried now. I will update my case as it progresses.

Hi Sugar Rush,

Yes we had the interview at Federal Plaza on May 1st and it seemed to go well. We were told that there would be a further background check and the IO checked that my name was correct on the form and in line with what should go on the green card. She told us to watch out for our mail and asked if we had any questions. I asked when should we expect the mail and she said she couldn't really say. Still no word 3 and a 1/2 weeks later (25 days altogether) and our online status on the USCIS website has not been updated yet either.

To Artist123,

It seems like the "further background check" has been the same excuse given to many of these Federal Plaza cases. Your case is the 3rd one that I have recounted recently.

I wonder whether an entire batch of recent applications probably didn't get processed correctly by the National Benefits Center prior to being scheduled for interviews and are all being "background checked" together now and that's why we see such a huge backlog of NYC cases not being approved right away.

I have no idea but I'm getting very fed up with it all now. We gave them an 8 inch wide file of very clear organized paperwork, proof, evidence and the interview went smoothly. I was kind of shocked at the end when the IO casually said 'ok well we'll just do some more background checks." For what? They have everything they requested, plus a lot more and my background is as clean as a whistle so surely that would not take all that long to figure out. I just don't get it. The you see some others who got the card mailed out after a week or two.
