Are you applying for AOS or for the K3 visa? Is your spouse in the US yet on their K3 visa?

what are you hoping for ?

I assume is not 'adjustment of status' since he's not here.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I don't have a social security number and my husband added me to his bank account with no problems.. I did have to be there in person though. Although the people who worked at the bank didn't have a clue how to do it but they figured it out. I think your bank may be confused

sorry i am applying for a k-3 and he is not in the US

Ahh. Then you should post further questions here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/81-k-3-spouse-visa-process-procedures/ and this one should be moved there by a Mod/Organiser.

IMO, to start gathering up evidence for AOS, yer jumping the gun - he's not here yet.

A K-3 visa holder has 2 years to adjust status, once stateside.

So that's also 2 years to create evidence, once he's here.

Since Jamaicans are not allowed to enter the US without the visa you will not be able to open a joint account here until he is approved.

You can use any receipts you have from Western Union as proof of co-mingling of finances and you can open a joint account in Jamaica.

My husband and I just opened an account at Scotia for this very reason.

Let me know if you need help on opening an account in JA, it's not so easy <_<
