California is closely monitoring efforts to contain leaks from a quake-damaged Japanese nuclear plant, a spokesman said Saturday, as experts said radiation could be blown out across the Pacific.

...

If there were a reactor meltdown or major leak at Fukushima, the radioactive cloud would likely be blown out east across the Pacific, towards the US West Coast.

"The wind direction for the time being seems to point the (nuclear) pollution towards the Pacific," said Andre-Claude Lacoste of the French Nuclear Safety Authority, briefing journalists in Paris on the Japanese crisis.

It's payback for all the above ground nuclear bomb testing we did in the 40's, 50's, and 60's. I wonder where all that fallout ended up?

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

Americans who hate California? There are americans who live in California like my fiance and his family. This is the meanest post I've ever seen in my life. I cant believe how some people want innocent people to be harmed...This is very sad.

We just have a problem with dirty Cali hippies. No worries. We mean no harm to normal people.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I agree ! Californians shouldn't have to put up with this. In fact I believe California would be better off if it succeeded from the rest of the United States...and made visa restrictions between Americans and Californians...and even build a giant wall around California thus keeping out all the "meanies" who wish to do California harm.

Guess no one on VJ is a Nuclear Reactor expert, otherwise they'd not be making flippant remarks, not to mention there are probably a few here who lived through the Chernobyl disaster. Several countries were irreversibly affected, it'll be the same here.

Just say it. If California was irradiated, you wouldn't care. Just say it, we all know you want to.

I'm going to plead the 5th on this one. :)
