@G/S ... here is also valid for 3 months, but I can have a new one easily. I don't know how it works in Nigeria, in that case, I'd wait one little more week to go get it, IF it doesn't take too long for you (or your fiance(e)) to be able to pick it up. How long does it take to get an interview date there?

PS: Fill in your timeline, please :)

Thanks Deedee, my country police clearance valid for 3months, does it worth it?

hmmmm...as far as i saw the time between consulate receive and interview is pretty big in nigeria. if its only 3 months i would advise you to get your interview date first and get the police certificate after that so you wont have any surprise

The US Embassy doesn't follow the local police report expiration dates. Its like a given that you haven't commited a crime since your last police report and gotten out of prison soon enough to attend your interview, so really it doesn't matter.

Looky--And very glad to hear your case got out the NVC door already as well! Ha! I know the feeling of surprise. I called NVC on a whim not really expecting any info for a month but was nearly bowled over in shock when I was told the case had been forwarded two days before my call!!! I was so surprised I nearly hung up the phone before getting the case number! Fortunately, the NVC rep had her act together and made sure I had all the info I needed--and even gave some nice words of congratulation. --RK

Yeah that was funny you had the exact same thing happen as me, except I did hang up before getting the case number. Fortunately they weren't busy at the time and I got somebody else in like 5 minutes. Both people I talked to were happy, I guess giving out good news is more fun then giving out bad! Thanks and congrats to you too! B-)

Thanks, Looky! Yes, I got the same impression that the NVC rep was happy to give good news. From reading a number of other posts on VJ--where petitioners are having difficulty with speaking to someone at NVC/getting definitive answers, NVC losing paperwork, or losing track of paperwork, etcereta, etcetera--it must feel good for NVC to give out good news!! That is part of why I related my good experience with NVC here--to try to give some more equal time to the positive experiences on this "fascinating," :) sometimes glitch-prone, --and sometimes very bizarre  --visa journey!! --RK

This is true, RK. Even though we stayed stuck at NVC for almost 1 month from the date of NOA2, and it was driving me crazy, when we did get the reply from the inquiry (through email), they were very helpful and nice. Same on the phone, the lady who told Matt our case # was excited to give out the good news, and she made sure to tell him everything he'd need before he hung up the phone to come back to skype yelling that we got it lol

I also gotta add the fact that, DOS, all of the operators that I talked to, were VERY helpful and sympathic. The one who told me my interview date, hearing me almost crying, excited and not even breathing straight anymore (LOL) laughed some with (or at) me, and even said congrats!

Depending on the time you call them, it's hard to get ahold of an operator because too many people calling, but early in the morning (DOS), when they first open, and late in the night (NVC)are the best times. I'm just glad I'm done with it, just waiting for the interview to come and rock on!

Lol, wasn't thinking about any fancy clothes, just: "maybe these jeans, maybe those, with this shirt... maybe that one, should I wear heels (not real high ones but heels) should I wear my boots over the pants, underneath them... hahaha I'm going crazy! or it's maybe I'm already crazy... And over here is winter, so I have to wear a jacket, but I know I'll be sweating like hell! So should I leave the jacket...

To be or not to be... that is the question! Lmao!

@Carolina I'm sure it'll end when we are through the POE 'cause after we approve our interview we'll be thinking of the visa... will they put my name right? will they make a mistake??? hahaha already thought about my next questions!!!
