Still getting wet here. I saw some idiot in a little sedan try to drive through 2 feet of moving water. I don't think he made it.

Every spring during the rainy season it floods a couple times at least in parts of Houston. The underpasses and even some freeways become pretty much rivers. There is always some that drive up to the flooded roads and stop and look at it. I have and others will tell them it is pretty deep. Usually the response is that they have to get to the other side. Few will turn around but the ones that try never make it across. One especially bad place gets a sign and barrels in front of it saying it is closed due to high water. You guessed it. Many just go around the obstructions and into the water. Not really sure why but it is usually babes that do this.helpsmilie.gif

That is how when know it is going to flood: All the stores are out of bread and milk.

Not happening yet.

So far, the river is staying below flood stage, no warning yet. We got one more day of showers, then the cold weather comes back. Dipping below freezing at night is cold for us. Black ice is so fun!

blech - Houston had such big floods, I bought a big honking truck. 3.5 feet to the bottom of the engine block.

Took it up to Irving, changed the tires for the Snow Days - all is OK.

I hate flood, I hate snow. Weather is nice this week in Irving, but I'm in China freezing... grrr

We generally have a week or two's worth of food here. The worst it got was in the nineties, when we were blocked by high water for almost a week. When the power when out, so did the BBQ's as folks emptied their freezers. It was like one giant block party between storms. They stopped by and asked if we needed anything. "Beer is running low, and so are the cigarettes."

You're supposed to get out of your car and walk across first, if you make to the other side and back then its safe to drive your car across. hard to believe how dumb some people can be
