Almost Unheard of These Days and a Pleasant Surprise

I'm so amazed and surprised with this and had to share my experience.

Last year I bought 2 tires at Discount Tires, one of these (almost) nation wide chains. Recently I noticed a large bulge had formed on one of my front tires. Thinking it was one of the new ones, I took my car in yesterday to have it replaced under the warranty. Once there I discovered I was mistaken, those 2 were mounted on the rear wheels, the front ones at the time had been in good condition and weren't replaced.

With a 37 mile commute one way to work, all highway driving I had no choice but to buy a new tire to replace the bulging one, while inspecting the rest of them they found the other front tire was also in such grave condition they felt it dangerous to drive on. So now I was faced with buying 2 new tires.

Frankly right now money is extremely tight, I've had a serious asthma flair up recently which has caused me to miss work a number of days with no pay, and mine is the only household income, Steve has no EAD so is unable to work. As a result although I had income due today, yesterday when faced with this I didn't have enough for one tire let alone two.

Dejected, I explained this to them as I prepared to leave and hope for the best until I could afford it, but they wouldn't hear of it. Instead they discounted the tires enough that I was able to cover 40% of the bill yesterday, then proceeded to install 2 new tires and rotate them for me on nothing but good will and my word I would return today to cover the remaining balance, which I did promptly this morning. While offering them profuse thanks over their generousity, they said they appreciated that I followed through saying that usually when they do this, the people never return. (So this is not the first time they've done this!)

I'm so amazed that a fairly major chain, in these days and times, would put the health and safety of their customers ahead of money, and would rather risk taking a loss on their products and services than risk the safety of their customers.

you should find one of those websites where ppl post reviews of companies and post a good one for them. I read those and others might too

i've used bigo tires my entire life. no complaint. they aren't the cheapest in town though.

And you know what else - since you had an exceptionally good experience with them, you posted it here where potentially thousands will read it (hundreds at any rate) who will remember your good experience and may very well decide to use this same company when they need tires. Kudos to the company - they have a satisfied customer who has just given them a powerful dose of positive 'word of mouth' advertising. It is too bad more businesses don't realize that exceptional customer service equals great business and generates more profits.
