If she has a broadband connection at home get her a vonage. Then she will have an American local number right there in her house. You can call it from any phone and she can call anywhere in the USA for free! Talk as long as you want!! I did it and it cost's me $17.50/month. I used to have $300 phone bills and I tell you that this is MUCH better. Plus we can talk as long as we want and as much as we want!! If she does not have broadband then get it for her! Even adding the extra $40/month for the broadband is still way cheaper than a $500 phone bill!!

Well, she is very low income and lives in a boarding house with no phone line so that's not an option. And, she's not always home when I call her.

No internet connection or phone line where she's at. I tried to get her to move and told her I would pay for it, but she declined.

I see 1/3 of the voters thing I should kill myself. :crying:

Yeah, try therichcom.com ,... they have a thing where you can search by the country you're calling for the best rates, and it rates the quality of the connection also.

I highly recommend Skpe! I use a headset and dial the phone line. It's great and only cost me .021$ a min.

Where was the option to choose: Get a second job to pay the phone bill?

I'm in the same boat. He doesn't have internet connection. And he just moved to attend a different university, so no land line (which sucks because a land line is only $.09/minute while his cell is $.23/minute).

But I love him and I can't make it through the day without talking to him, so I just suck it up and pay the phone bill. I take money from other areas of the budget - no new clothes and no "going out" money (so no movies, restaurants, etc.)

Good luck!!!!
