Did you receive any hard copy letter from NVC?

My case is completed at NVC. The next step is the interview. Before today, I thought the department of state is the one scheduling the interview. So who schedule our interview? The NVC or department of state? Also, my wife and I never have received any hard copy document from the NVC. It this normal? I am concern that they may not send us hard copy of the appointment document. Can we do our medical without the official document from the NVC?

If you opted to receive correspondence by email, you will get an interview appointment letter as an email attachment.

When you say you have not received a hard copy, do you mean no correspondence at all? Have you been getting emails?

Thank guys. I received my corresponces by e-mail. I think it is better to receive e-mail anyway.

I know my case is completed because I called the NVC. So, I should call the department of state to ask about the appointment. How come a lot of people suggest calling the NVC? The U.S consulate takes a while to reply e-mail and the e-mail are most generic.

For the IR-1 CR-1 the NVC sets the interview. The NVC is a branch of the State Department. to me calling the department of state just took less time to talk to a real person. And if they transfer you to the NVC your connected but still have to wait in the hold que until you get to talk to someone. We waited well past the 8 weeks they say to give them to set-up the interview.

Good Luck

When was your case completed? It is the NVC who will notify you with the date of the interview because they are the ones who schedule it. It should be sent to your e-mail. For us it took us about 3 weeks after the case was complete to receive a date. Good luck!

Thank. Did you receive hard copy correspondences at the appointment stage from HCMC or everything was by e-mail. How long did it takes for you set an appointment for medical in HCMC? What did your spouse bring to the medical center in HCMC?

We did not recieve a hard copy. if your set-up for email that is all you recieve, which is much quicker then snail mail.

All my wife did was call the IOM and they her had in the next day for her medical. Her medical was completed 2 weeks after we got the P4 email. all she took was the email ,and her shot records. She was lucky no Sputam test, which is 3 days in a row at the hospital. The IOM has been a great help to her from the start. $300.00. Cheaper then a lawyer but a bit of a confidence booster for her.

Good Luck

Is the $300 for both medical and iom service? What should my wife tell iom when she calls them? Just say that we filed for cr1 and require their service? Do you have ditect contact with anybody there?

HCMC makes the interview appointment for the F1 not the CR-1/IR-1 .

The Medical exam is $100.00 any shots your wife needs is extra. IOM has helped my wife organize our paper work to get it ready for the interview. The $300.oo I gave to them was back when we 1st filed in 2/2010. She has been to talk to them on 7 or 8 different occasions. The $300.00 to help her confidence is well worth it to me. We do have some red flags which I dont think the IOM will be of much use if they do come up.

I just got back from VN today. Her paperwork looked pretty good, it gave us more time to enjoy Siagon instead of focusing on the paperwork.
