First NOA - Contacting service center

My fiancee sent out our petition forms about a month ago today and we haven't recieved our first NOA. She was away for about a week and is concerned that her friend who was checking her mail for her may have not noticed the NOA and thrown it out.

I know the first NOA can take around 3-4 weeks but is there a way to contact the service center and find out if it has been sent? I don't want to let it drift to 6-8 weeks and then discover that the NOA was mailed to her but she didn't get it.

Petition sent: 12/10/2010

Arrived at service center: 12/14/2010

First NOA: 12/16/2010

Touched: 12/31/2010

Second NOA: 05/24/2011

Go online and see if it was sent . You don't need I anyway so don't worry.

I assume the OP doesn't have their case number, since it would be listed on their NOA1.

Baron? How can he find it if he doesn't have the receipt number? Can he find it another way?

Delilah's Man: Here is the USCIS link in case you need it. https://egov.uscis.g...is/Dashboard.do

EDIT: DM did you get a text or email with that receipt number? If so, you can put that in the website box where is asks you for it.

That's correct, no receipt number because there's no NOA. Is there another way of finding out if it was sent?

:( Not the advice I was hoping for. I guess I will just call the 1800 number on monday.

The only way i can think of is to call that number, sorry :( Our NOA1 took just over 3 weeks (we asked for text and email notification) then the original NOA1 took 4 weeks to arrive in the mail, so i understand your concern!

Good luck

I didn't even know there was a txt/email option. Is it on the form and we missed it or did you provide that information seperately?

This might be a stupid question but is the packaging for the NOA 'obvious' or is it just a plain flat envelope?

The NOA1 is a worthless document. It is a receipt that is all. So if someone threw it out, it is no great loss, you do not need it for anything.

Did they cash the check? If yes, she can get the case number off the back of the check. Use the case number to enter the case into the online status system and your NOA date will be there. The document they mail tells you nothing you do not already know (or should already know). The NOA1 date is within a day or two of the delivery date...close enough. And the case number can be found on the back of the check.

The next few notices she will receive are important. The NOA2 or RFEs (if any) are not to be missed as you WILL need them later. Make SURE you are there for the delivery or have a reliable person to check your mail. Why someone checking her mail would throw away ANYTHING is beyond comprehension.

I was under the impression that the Texas Service Center no longer put the case number on the back of the check. Hopefully this isn't correct and the OP can find out some information about their case.

You are correct.

Call the 1800 number and ask them to escalate your call. The second level customer service reps will give you your case # over the phone if it's been longer than 30 days.
