So, here is some update:

I called the embassy, and had to wait for a while till they took my call.

I told the lady who answered, that I accidentally opened the envelope that I was not supposed to open  ... and she said I had called to the wrong department, but that she would ask her colleague about what to do. She said that there is no problems; I should only send the envelope back to the embassy - and they will send it all to me again in a new sealed envelope...

What a good relief!

I can sleep tonight, and I know now what to do...

... and the best thing;

I will go to the usa to my honey during october!

well, i also think the first thing you should do is go to the embassy and hopefully you can get it resealed before your flight to the US.

by the way: how does this forbidden envelope look like? is it not labeled with "DO NOT OPEN" or something like that? I dont know because I dont have my visa yet.

good luck to you

Yeah atleast you got one thing right, Blonds aren't that smart !!!. But your situation is not that bad. Call the embassy and let them know what happened and they will take care of you. Goodluck !!!

You really do like to insult, don't you? Hopefully you were only joking, but you should know that not everyone understands this brand of humor.

Oh, btw, Blonds is spelled Blondes.

You must be a blond, huh. Sorry for the mispell words. I'm mechanical Engineer not an English professor !!!

"Sending" anything that important gives me the willies (probably just because of our experience with mail in Asia, and I'm sure Sweden has one of the best mail systems in the world), but in order to avoid further hassles, I would definitely send the package through some kind of very reliable service with tracking, or hand-carry it back to the Consulate. Just a suggestion.

Best wishes to the OP.

Maya (who made a much worse mistake than you!) ;)

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

I have to admit when I first came across this thread my fiance and I laughed so hard, not cause we thought what happened was stupid, it was just the funny way it was worded and the humor. It really was entertaining and we needed the good laugh. I won't poke fun of her for her mishap  cause really it was simple mistake that anyone can make. We are happy she was able to remedy her "oopsie" I know we will definatley be careful if and when we get the sealed envelope. btw the blonde reputation jokes are so old. (and no niether of us are blonde) but if we were we'd still be smart and witty.

I'm glad we finally got resolution on this. I had heard that if you opened the brown envelope when you weren't supposed to, the little visa fairies would sneak in your house late at night and steal the contents and then you would have no way of entering the U.S.

Glad to know this was just a rumor.

Whats the guarantee even if its sealed they will not reopen it again?

HOW DO WE KNOW WHICH ENVELOPE IS NOT SUPPOSE TO BE OPEN? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ENVEOLOPE WHERE IT COMES THE PASSAPORT AND THE ONE WITH THE VISA PAPERS?

I think it's ridiculous that they have the immigrant bring the envelope with them. What happens, due to no fault of their own, if the envelope gets lost? It's a retarded idea. Why doesn't the Consulate overseas send it via diplomatic pouch to the US? The room for error is huge.
