Consulate Review: Frankfurt, Germany
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 19, 2006
Embassy Review : hotel info:
there is a hotel across the street from the consulate but it costs about 99€. if you want a cheaper hotel but still in walking distance: try hotel alleenhof or pension stella. I stayed at hotel alleenhof and walked (slowly) about 20min to the consulate. it cost 55€.

when to arrive:
I was there at 6.30am and was the first one to be there but around 6.45am there werea already 7 people that joined me. it was very cold to stand out there and wait.

the usual procedure:
1) at a window outside you have to show your passport and appointment letter but they never wantet to see my appointment letter. they give you a number.
2) security check
3) large waiting area with 23 windows and displays that call people by their number to the windows.
4) the first window you will be called to is always window 23, there they want your passport, proof that you payed your visa-fee, photo, and they give you a return envelope on which you have to write your address and you have to put 4.25€ stamps on it.
5) thex next window they call you to wants your police certificate and birth certificate and that return envelope and the affidavit of support documents
6) the last window you are called to does your interview. you sign this one form that you are only allowed to sign in front of the consular offocial, they take your fingerprints, etc.
7) then you can leave the consulate and you are done.

my case:
A) nobody wantet to see my appointment letter
B)they only wantet the IRS-transcript of 2005 as finacial evidence from my sponsor (fiance) but i gave them the bank letter and employer letter and the W2 (2005) as well.
C)other people in VJ had to read a text out loud to swear something but I never had to do that.
D)I was not asked any personal questions about my relationship to my fiance. and they did not ask for any evidence of our relationship

I was out of the consulate by 9.30am, that was very fast. I was told that I will receive the visa within the next two weeks.

that's it

greetings
