...current track puts it coming inland just north of tampa...

yay, I live north of Tampa, near the coast. :wacko:

Anyway, there's still a few days before it will hit anywhere in the US (if it hits the US). There's really no telling what will happen yet.

Charlie was supposed to hit directly on Tampa Bay, and suddenly shifted to the right, 2 hours or so south of Tampa, as Laura wrote about. You can never really tell where it'll hit, but you can always be prepared.

I'd still rather live in Florida than in any state where tornadoes are the norm. Those freak me out more than anything, you get practically no warning. When a hurricane comes, you get days of warning ahead of time.

I still think 2004 was the most stressful Florida hurricane season in awhile. I know Katrina was bad last year but I still think 2004 was worse.

the hurricane point of impact frequently does shift to the east. give it time and miami will be landfall :P

Im not looking forward to it, but we do need the rain badly, and well lets face it, if it hits on a weekday, NO WORK!! :) Ofcorse i wish no damage or deaths or injuries, i just need a free play day :) And this will be my husbands first, hes a hurricane virgin, so he has no clue what hes bout to get with this. I just hope he stays below a cat 1, or no higher than a cat1. :thumbs:

Haven't even looked at this yet...but I'm not too worried. ONe year they evacuated all of jacksonville...i think it was 1999, and not even a drop of rain...

so...we'll see.

I'm a bit more relaxed now - Ernesto seems to be getting weaker and pushed off to the east some more. They even said it might miss the US entirely. Let's hope for the best:

Well...no work for me tomorrow! Schools are CLOSED. Praying for it only to be a tropical storm and not do something crazy like rapidly intensify. Some are really worried about Lake O's dikes. The Army Corps of Engineers will not publically state what they feel are the weaknesses stating it is a matter of national security (oh please...sounds like CYA to me).

Have you seen they are returning the shuttle to the hangar? Wise idea...lets not let multi-millions of dollars of equipment get damaged!

I was hoping it'd come close enough so that Sujeet could have a day off of work. Of course I don't want there to be damage from this storm, but it's fun when you get a day off from it...even if it doesn't hit you, once they say no work/school for the next day, there's no work/school. I guess we have to wait and see in a few more hours which direction it's going more.
