we had our interview last monday (thank you to all who told me to go regardless of the cancellation letter). when should I reasonably expect to receive my green card in the mail? I have tried to check my status online but it's stuck to "acceptance" stage...

I would say less than a month. I would hope less than 2 weeks but with the holidays just around the corner I can't tell you for sure. Good luck!

Timeline

We just had our interview on Tuesday. After our interview (and in the presence of the IO), our attorney said to give it maybe two weeks. He said that he's been amazed at how fast it's been lately, and while the official line the IO gave was 6-8 weeks, she (the IO) didn't correct him. We just got the "Welcome to the USA" letter today and it said to expect it within 3 weeks.

We had our interview this Friday (approved woohoo!) and the IO said to expect them in 2 weeks, possibly 3 because of the holidays. So yours may even arrive by the end of the week!

It almost doesn't seem real until the actual cards arrive - even after they said it's approved I'll only feel completely happy once I'm actually holding that card in my hand!

LOL! Congratulations! For us, it didn't seem real till we got our "WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!" letter. The letter states definitely that the green card is on its way. God willing, it'll be an early Christmas gift! It's just nice to know that the hardest part is done (removing conditions will be a breeze, I'm sure, relatively speaking).

I'm curious about this too. We passed our interview on the 30th of November and the woman said no longer than 3 weeks, but that in some cases it can be less than a week. We are still waiting. My wife had a trip planned to go back to Sweden for Christmas, leaving the 18th. We had already gotten her the Travel Parole papers so that she could leave. Then all of a sudden the interview was scheduled and we passed and the paroles are no longer valid, so we are kind of screwed if we don't get it this week. I may have to mail it to her in Sweden, which is a little scary.

Service Center : California Service Center

05-19-2009 - check cashed

Welcome letters received today! And yes, you're right it does seem more official! There are no conditions attached to our cards - on an F4 sibling sponsored visa they are all 10 year green cards. The difference is that we are eligible for Citizenship in five years as opposed to 3.
