We've got our interview coming up on the 20th. We're starting to prepare and I think we have most everything but there are some confusing items on the list. Could you help me out with them?

-With the I-864...we did submit it already and gave them all the documents for me (USC), but now my wife is employed and working here in the US. Do we need to get letters from her employer and bring her paychecks also? The way it's phrased in the letter makes it seem like they want my wife's stuff.

-All documentation establishing your eligibility for lawful permanent resident status. What is that?

-What kind of evidence should we bring to establish our relationship?

-The letter states: "Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application. Otherwise, we may keep your originals for our records." This is my BIGGEST question...what does this mean?

Thank you!

Have you read through the AOS guide here on VJ? It offers a lot of great advice.

RE Eligibility: A K1 entrant needs to prove that they got married to the petitioner within the 90 days. A great piece of evidence/proof would be your marriage certificate.

RE Relationship: How have you comingled your lives since arrival? Joint accounts, etc.

Original and copy of each document is self explanitory. You want to bring the original as well as copies. Copies are given to the interviewer. If you don't bring copies they will keep the original. Does this explanation help you to understand?

No.

-All documentation establishing your eligibility for lawful permanent resident status. What is that?

What basis did you apply for AOS? You applied based on your marriage. So you need to provide documentation that proves your marriage is valid for immigration purposes. This is the joint accounts etc that people discuss.

-What kind of evidence should we bring to establish our relationship?

Joint accounts, joint bills, wills, anything with both of your name. proof of travels together.. There are many posts on this.

-The letter states: "Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application. Otherwise, we may keep your originals for our records." This is my BIGGEST question...what does this mean?

For example your birth certificate, if they can't find the copy in your file they'll need one. If all your bought was your original they MAY take the original because you don't have a spare copy for them. Make sense?
