Hello Everyone,

My wife and I are thinking about traveling back to our home country for a holiday vocation but were still waiting to be called for the interview. Will there be any issues with her traveling while waiting for AOS?

We filled out her advance parole travel document when we submitted our AOS package.

Thanks for the help!

If you have the AP documents in your hands, and someone responsible collecting your mail so you can find out about the interview appointment instantly [and come home early, if necessary], you should be good to go.

Many Thanks for the quick response.

Would you know if there is any other way to check when our appointment is without checking our mail?

I could be wrong, but even if you signed up for e-mail or SMS updates, they will not tell you in e-mail or SMS what the letter says. Someone would have to open the envelope for you and tell you what instructions are in the letter.

Also, there is a chance you could be approved without an interview.

You may still want to sign up for e-mail updates so you know when mail is coming (since you will be updated regarding major milestones in your case, such as RFE, approval, refusal, post-decision activity or card production).

Many Thanks for the quick response.

I don't think there is no. i know with RFE's for instance they can't tell you what the RFE says if you call the 1800 number.

You're much better off waiting for your holiday until AOS is approved. It should only take 3 months or so. AP can be used for non-emergencies but if AOS is denied while the applicant is outside the US, their AP is cancelled and they cannot return to the US... so i would only use the AP if you HAVE to. If you don't have plans yet, don't make them.

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to " Working & Traveling During US Immigration" as this is relating to travel during AOS **

I think they try to give you at 2-4 weeks notice. Don't count on much more.
