What's up with the K1 process...

This process goes against the essence of the "American Dream"... which is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in which we are trumped by “National Security.” There has to be another way to satisfy both. If you research the results of the K1 process before 9/11, our beloved ones would be in our arms permanently anywhere from 90 – 120 days. Now that’s NOT even the average for a NOA2, which is approximately 120 – 180 days. Where have those days of expedited approvals gone? Why did the government elect to extend the process? Where are the added security measures to justify the delays? Will the transfer of responsibilities and specialization of Service Centers make a difference in the long run? My questions are rhetorical but it’s a very sad state of affairs. I know that I don’t have room to complain because my beloved and I have greatly benefited from the chaos of the IMBRA compliance. However, I live the frustration and despair everyday thru the challenges of others in which I sincerely empathize with every one of you. This process truly test boundaries that I'd rather not explore again, and there is no consolation except the reunion with our beloved ones. I wish us all great success and I pray for a resolution to this problem in the future.

Just sharing my thoughts...

IMO, not just the K-1 process, but all legal immigration paths have been constructed not to facilitate the process, but to discourage and dissuade all but the extremely determined. Oddly enough, I'm not sure that is the best way to ensure national security - afterall, are not those who might wish to do harm also be extremely determined and patient? The state of current immigration law is nightmarish, and if it had been in place 200 years ago, we would still be a little agglomeration of colonies hugging the east coast. There are very few of us whose ancestors actually started out in the USA. Under the current regime, we are shooting ourselves in the foot by making it so ridiculously difficult, nearly impossible for many talented, productive folks who would be eager to come here and be grateful for the opportunities that so many of us take for granted. Also, just sharing a few thoughts...

I just don't understand this. All this, all of the paperwork for "National Security" but yet we have 12 million illegal immigrants in our country already, undocumented immegrants if you don't like the terminology "illegal". But yet congress and the senate are exploring avenues to deem these individuals citizens, to grant them immunity. Corporations continue to exploit them, working the undocumented individuals as dogs, paying them as little as possible. I don't have all the answers, heck I don't even come forward with knowing all of the answers, I do know this though, that if the business owners, the corporations would pay what the work is worth you would start seeing more "documented" and "legal" U.S. citizens working these jobs, heck even if they paid minimum wage you would see the jobs being filled.

Yes, we welcome "Competition" as someone in the higher power had recently stated, HOWEVER, we welcome the competition on a fair playing field where the rules apply to all across the board!!! When this happens I too will welcome competition, HOWEVER, I cannot feed and house my family on $2.00 per hour!!! Let's bring the jobs back to the U.S. with a fair wage attached, this will boost the economy, the economy will never ever get a boost by raising interest rates, what a farse!!!!

Sorry, didn't mean to get that heavily into this reply, just venting, that's all.

Thanks,

Keith

All i can say is Amen!!!!!! to all what everyone has said. I so strongly agree to everyone's opinion. I don't think i could have said it better myself. I think all this waitng in done intentionally to really test our love for our loved ones. I understand all what has to be done for them to get here but i don't think it should take this long. I have seen people waitng 1 year and longer for there loved ones to get hear. This process is designed for people to give up that is what USICS wants us to do, that is why I WILL NOT!!!! give up and i pray we all make it to approvals and our loved ones get here soon!!!!!!!!

With them, I believe its another case of the make-it-up-as-you-go-along aproach to immigration processing. Amen and Ameen to the previous posts.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I guess you should see in a sence that once your petition is appproved then it wont take long to get your fiance to USA. the post-approval period is much quicker than pre-approval timeline. I know people wont agree with me in this matter. It lot depends upon the benificiary country. But if we see the timeline for people from non-red flaged countries, their visa is issued in average two to three months as compared to countries like mine :( I have been waitting for the fkn interview date and they havent given us one yet. if you see my timeline then you can well imagine that how long would it take to the interview date. they would give us time to prepare for the additional docs for an interview, which menas the process seems to be going well beyond the end of this yearr. :(

Does anyone remember if one of the hijackers from 9/11 came over on a marriage visa? If so, do you feel that with technology and the intelligence agencies that we should still have long delays in the process? Does the ends justify the means and/or can the system be more efficient and secure to satify National Security and our personal preferences in regards to the immigration process. I'm not sure but it's something to think about. The only thing I do know is that I wish this process were a HELL of a lot FASTER!

I don't understand why more governments don't recognize that the vast majority of their citizens aren't looking for money, they're looking for happiness. The US government is arranged in a way that is intended to grow money, not happiness, and I think this makes very little sense.

Can we form a country primarily oriented towards that goal??

They stem from this article which states this:

According to expert analyses of the visa-application forms of 15 of the 9/11 terrorists (the other four applications could not be obtained), all the applicants among the 15 reviewed should have been denied visas under then-existing law. Six separate experts who analyzed the simple, two-page forms came to the same conclusion: All of the visa applications they reviewed should have been denied on their face.

So many folks in this post are complaining. I think even with all the delays in processing etc, it is still taking not more than yr and half for married folks to be able to bring their spouse to US on a green card. With so many K1 frauds, I think the US government cant help but take more time. Plus for unmarried folks, it is also a good test of their relationships.

I think if all the illegals are granted citizenship, it will backlog the system to crazy.

I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to accomplish all of this with proper staffing and clear-cut standards and timelines for approval.

What if UPS told you they couldn't give you an estimate on the delivery of your package because each package is different, needs to be scrutinized, and they don't have the staff to accomplish the task?
