My wife is adjusting from a K-1. NOAs (acknowledgment of receipt) for her I-485 and I-765 were dated 10/4. No touches since 10/7. I can't think of any reason for a delay - everything should be in order and our case is a relatively simple one (no kids, no prior marriages, etc.). Tomorrow will be 5 weeks with no response other than the NOA's, while people here on VJ seem to be getting biometrics letters in about 2 weeks.

Has anyone else had this sort of delay? Should I be worried? Should I call, just in case the biometrics appt letter was lost?

After you get your NOA1 for I-485, you can TRY a walk-in at your local USCIS office. The worst they can do is turn you away. If you're successful, they might immediately start working on your case again since the biometrics flags the case for attention needed.

I'd call the USCIS customer service line if I were you. Even if a biometrics letter hasn't been sent yet, they might be able to get the ball rolling.

I wouldn't try just walking into your nearest ASC with only your NOA1. Seems that people are generally reporting they can't do a walk-in biometrics until they at least have their biometrics letter.

Good luck!

That's what I would do, however, we're a very long way from our local office ($1200 RT flight).

Thanks for the advice!

Some ASC's have been very backed up the last little while. It took me 3.5 months to get my bio appt, and I only got it that soon because I got my congressman involved (I am pregnant and was at the point that travelling was going to be an issue). I would suggest that you put in a service request by calling the 1 800 number for USCIS to ensure that the letter has not been lost in the mail. If your ASC is at a slow down, the response from USCIS will tell you that. It will not tell you how long your wait will be tho.

Good Luck

October filer here as well, although my situation is a wee bit different I have EAD and SSN but as you can see from my time line no biometrics appointment letter for AOS :) Personally I would call but I know from experience that they tell you they will email you within 30 days with an answer that doesn't make any sense LOL but you will get a biometrics app letter with in 2 weeks :)

I wouldn't go to a walk-in appointment without an appointment letter but that is just me.

When people try for walk-ins, they have their biometrics letter in hand already... What they are trying to achieve is to get it done before the actual appointment date, but you can't even get a walk-in with only your NOA1.

To the OP, you can call for a service request to see if they can get the letter out to you. Good luck!

Seriously? If you don't mind me asking where do you live? That's insane, $1200 is $100 more than what it cost me for a return ticket to Australia.

We live in Barrow, at the very northern tip of Alaska. It's expensive to fly from here, normally about $600/ea RT to Anchorage. $1200 would be for both of us. It can cost a bit more, or less if on sale. People who live in the villages have to fly to Barrow, then to Anchorage. Then it could cost $1200 RT just for 1 person. The problem is I don't know when the appointment will be, so I can't buy tickets yet... hopefully they'll give us at least a few weeks advance notice.
