Are they using the visa as a second form of ID? the passport would suffice as primary ID. Also, according to your timeline, your visa should not be expired. Should be good for 6 months after issue. Some banks also take the I-94 for second form of ID. I would go back and get a manager to look at it again, shouldn't be an issue, especially with a social security number in hand. Or try another branch. It really shouldn't be a problem.

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to Moving Here and Your New Life In America as this isn't an AOS question or a qn about the immigration process, but a "life in USA" qn**

Yeah.... me and my husband recently open a joint account and I used my passport as my primary id, and I have my SSN Card with me which they accepted it as my secondary id. And we're good.

Since you called her "wife" I am assuming you are married. Ask to speak with the manager of the bank. It is true that the visa may indeed be expired since K visas are single entrance visas. However, the I-94 date-stamp gives her 90 days (or it used to be 90 days) to get married. With her passport and I-94 you should be golden. Also, go to your local DMV and get a state ID card. That should put an end to any question of her legitimacy to being in the U.S. It is also easier when she needs an I.D. locally to board a plane, use a credit card, etc. Good luck.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

I opened a bank account with Wells Fargo two days before I got married. I submitted two forms of identification. My passport and visa. If the visa is expired, show an ID issued from her country.

Since your married, A state ID should suffice. Like Wayne and Claudia suggested, a DMV one will work fine. Talk to the bank manager about it.

Change banks if the Banks Manager refuses to help you. You better get this under control, because the USCIS Official can possibly raise a stink over you not showing a financial stake with your Wife.

Bank of America opens accounts for anyone, they are the biggest, and they don't discriminate. Move your money, or you might regret your decision during your Adjustment of Status meeting. Mine took 55 minutes, we got yelled at and shouted at for 53 of those minutes, and our interpretor wasn't allowed inside of the meeting with us.

i went to a second bank and they said that the visa does not have enought time left to accept.

i went to get a state ID for her (lousiana) they would not accept the visa because she does not have 180 days left before the visa expires.

its the bank managers that are giving me the issues.

i would try a more national bank but they would not give me the same interest rates. my local banks give me 3-4%

i think i will just wait for her green card.
