Hi!

You guys have answered a lot of my questions in the past and helped me sooo much!

We applied for my husband's greencard and we got his passport back a couple of weeks back stamped with a temp 6 month visa. So we're finally going to the states, I just wanted to know what to expect from when we land onwards.

We have the sealed envelope that the embassy sent, which we're not suppose to open. Along with that, X-rays, the CD from the medical etc etc. But is this all gonna be shown on landing? I'm kinda confused on whats gonna happen. I know when we get there, we apply for his SSN and the greencard (which is to be mailed within the 4-6 weeks that it does take).

But if we were to travel back before his greencard arrived in the mail, would that be ok, if someone receives it on our behalf and sends it to where we would be?

Thanks!!

The officers at the POE are not doctors, even if you presented them with your medical results, they cannot read them for verification. You only really need your sealed envelope and your passport.

The passport will be stamped and the stamp is good for 1 year for work and travel, even if you leave before your green card arrives, you still have that stamp which allows you to re-enter the US as an LPR.

Good luck
