Muslims Report Rising Discrimination at Work

At a time of growing tensions involving Muslims in the United States, a record number of Muslim workers are complaining of employment discrimination, from co-workers calling them “terrorist” or “Osama” to employers barring them from wearing head scarves or taking prayer breaks.

...

The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has found enough merit in some of the complaints that it has filed several prominent lawsuits on behalf of Muslim workers.

Last month, the commission sued JBS Swift, a meatpacking company, on behalf of 160 Somali immigrants, saying supervisors and workers had cursed them for being Muslim; thrown blood, meat and bones at them; and interrupted their prayer breaks.

...

And in June, the agency sued a Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Phoenix, asserting that its management had illegally permitted a hostile work environment in which workers called an Iraqi immigrant a “camel jockey,” mocked him with Arab ululations and taunted him over news items about captured terrorists.

...

Although Muslims make up less than 2 percent of the United States population, they accounted for about one-quarter of the 3,386 religious discrimination claims filed with the E.E.O.C. last year.

...

Mohammad Kaleemuddin, a Pakistani immigrant who drove trucks for the American war effort in Iraq for three years, said that while he was working for a construction company in Houston, his supervisor and several co-workers called him “Osama,” “al Qaeda,” “Taliban,” and “terrorist.”

I have a reason to be a "Muslim sympathizer". What's your excuse for your behavior?

being Muslim or a sympathyizer does not make someone correct or innocent neither does someone that is Anti-Muslim make them evil or wrong.

If these people were experienced these issues in the work place then they will have their day in court and rightfully so.

I wish they could sue even if they experienced such hateful acts outside the workforce.

Ignorance and blindness is on both sides of this issue.

While I am certain there are instances of legitimate discrimination, I also strongly agree there is a move afoot to push Islamic agenda. Courts are, for better or worse, the place to separate the wheat from the chaf.

Oh yes, thanks for the correction. Being anti-Muslim is totally acceptable these days.

How about being anti-black? Or anti-Christian?

You've got to be kidding me if you think these positions are ok.

Anti-Muslim and Anti-Mexican are acceptable today.

Tomorrow, the rules will change. Stay tuned to your cable news network for updates.

Because I've had PC nonsense crammed down my throat since I was a kid.

Not a damn thing. People have different opinions about different people. That doesn't make them necessarily wrong or right, except within your own viewpoint or their own.

that's your opinion and nothing more. People seem to forget that.

People seem to have this idea of "rights" to not be discriminated against. When really that's a mob mentality of control of others that you disagree with and nothing more.

By stopping "discrimination" you are inherently discriminating against other people yourself as well.

Nice attempt to justify your actions there Mr. Duke. Actually, there is a right to not be discriminated against, in the workplace. Seeing as workplace discrimination is the topic of this thread, i'll ask you to stop trying to hijack this thread toward a nebulous discussion on how ostracizing bigots is racism, which it is not.
