Since when is it disrespectful to "conveniently" use a short-form of an celebrity's name--especially when said celeb has never indicated otherwise?

(note: one celeb who did contra-indicate it was Jeffrey Archer for a donkeys-years-ago "W5" episode)

I do agree with you completely, however,

I think what BishopM meant was kind of tongue in cheek; I'm not offended at all.

Historically, William shatner is most often referred to by his formal rather than his

informal name, but his recent inroads into comedy make him fair game for one & all :rofl:

"William Jefferson Clinton" has almost universally been referred to as "Bill"

while "Richard Milhouse Nixon" was often called "####### Nixon" by friend & foe alike.

I am fortunate to have a first name with only 4 letters and when I sign my name I

usually abbreviate it to first initial and last name (my family name has 10 letters).

My first name can't be shortened in speech but I do what I can to avoid writing too much. :lol:

He's going to be in some new series this fall. Boston Legal is a terrific show, he played the character extremely well, but I have a feeling the new character is going to be similar so I am not sure if I will like it or not. Time will tell.

Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
