I wanted my soulmate. The person in this world that was created for me. And I was created for him. I wanted TRUE love. I have that with Farid, my love, my darling husband. Without him, I'd be sad and lonely and I could never really "live" again. I'd just be walking around this planet like a zombie.

I never had specific REQUIREMENTS or anything, but I'd say my SO is VERY far from what I imagined!

I always dated tall, lanky guys; my fiance is barely taller than me and not very muscular.

I always liked artistic and creative men; my fiance is a software engineer.

BUT I always wanted to be with someone smart, and HILARIOUS, and opinionated. I definitely got that! And he can TALK. And no matter what, he is there for me, stands up for me, and is on my side. So who cares if he isn't the other things, when I'm so in love? He'll go do artistic things with me anyway, and I sure do think he's attractive. :)

Aw shucks.

I know this post is kinda old, but i have to reply to this.

I mean, everyone here said that their loved ones were what they wanted except for this or that thing... And this girl was the only one that said that my loved one isn't anything I looked for as a man, but he is this or that thing.

Isn't that strange?

PS: I am the not tall, not tanky, but smart and funny guy....

a strange question

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Not really -- people lie. When people buy an expensive thing, they will defend it to death

even if they know it's #######, because they don't want to admit they might have made a

mistake, especially to other people. The same reason no-one here would say "my man

is a ####### lover, he wouldn't know a clit from his elbow", it's always "my man's the best"

and "the best sex I've ever had". Yah, really.

Tanky?

My list for what I wanted was too long so as long as my love did not have certain qualities I was pretty open.

Didnt want.

1. Judgemental

2. closeminded

3. rude

4. self centered

5. materialistic

6. needy

7. overly dependant

8. whiner

Anna is completely the oposite of all of these and brilliant to boot so I am very lucky.

Paul misses Anna

Good list, Paul!

I'm ok with judgemental and materialistic, but everything else is a definite no for me. :P

Sorry, I misquoted her while typing in a hurry (a man gotta eat...).

I get your point, but isn't it that too much? Isn't like starting with "I was looking for A, B & C" and end it with "but I've found this D, E & F guy, and I settled for him" kinda bad?

I mean, when I talk about her, I always says that she is A, B and C. Am I doing something wrong?

Being A, B & C good things I think about her

I don't know if you're doing anything wrong, but at least Alex is honest - would you rather

she lied to you? I don't think she ever implied that she had "settled" for you - on the contrary,

she said she was in love with you. Does it really matter that she had had a different image

of a "perfect guy" in her head *before* she met you?

I couldn't agree with you more, malwilson, but the thing is: it doesn't really matter. But why does she say that?

Doesn't she saying that she liked specifically "X, Y and Z" sound that she is still uneasy with giving up on that?

And I AM the perfect guy for her. I know it. I just want to be sure she is with me on that one.

And I want to disscus this with someone else besides her.

So...i had a "list" of things I wanted in a husband...like 100+ things (yes I had no life...) Stewart only fits about ten of them :)

How close is your SO to YOUR previuos "Requirements?"

ex...

I wanted a big guy...stew only weighs 160 (6'4")

i wanted a frat guy (don't ask)...stew is SOOO Far from that.

I love tall, dark and handsome...stew is tall and handsome...but pale as a piece of paper.

\

As you can see from my original post...not ALL posterse said that their SO met their requirements. Stewart was so far from what I was looking for...

But It doesn't mean I love him less...or that he's not what I want...It just turned out that he was everything I NEVER knew I wanted :)

I'd say chill out Rey! Alex loves you and that's VERY apparant.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I thought Alex's post was actually lovely.......

Well, your girlfriend telling everyone she was looking for a tall, lanky guy is nice. If you are a short and overweight guy that changes a bit.

:D

it means you won her over with your charm
