A lot of folks do not have a big or any social life outside their family

A lot of people get homesick or whatever and for many reasons, they think about going back

Most don't.

However, if your spouse left you or died, would you feel too alone and go back ?

I would stay for a year first and then re assess

I saw a survey result that says anyone who has gone through GC is very reluctant to throw it all way. If I was years from USC I would probably go back, but within 18 months ? Probably not as it gives one options at least.

PS If I was already USC I would still give it 12 months. If I decided to go back after 9 months I would visit the UK and buy a house at my leisure and have it ready for my return at the end of the 12 months.

I retired at 54 so I wouldn't need to think jobs - I have no family here. I have a daughter in the UK and a son in Tenerife. I make friends (and enemies) easily and I like boats and target shooting - so I could probably work up a social life in Florida - so a return would not be automatic. One day I would have to pay Medicare but its $6.5k pa which me and BP can handle ok

I think most people from first world countries would go back. If you glance at the AOS forum, most in such situations that are seeking to stay, are from poorer countries. I'm not offending them though, as anyone of us in their position would do the same.
