Just so you know, US football is long because of clock management not instant replays. Instant replays only add 5-6 minutes to a game because they are limited.

Exactly what I was about to say. The amount of actual reviews of the instant replay by the officials are very limited. A team has to bet one of it's time outs that the officials are wrong in order for a review to occur. If the call is confirmed by instant replay, the timeout is lost and effectively no time is lost (since the time out now doesn't occur).

Instant replay is used on television simply because the rules of the game inevitably lead to gaps and the stations wanted to fill it in with something. This led to instant replay being occasionally reviewed by refs since sometimes the refs can be shown to clearly be in error.

I'm not suggesting that every call be reviewed in soccer. Most serious calls in soccer lead to a halt in play anyways. Taking 30 seconds for the ref to watch it again and make sure he is right isn't going to suddenly bloat a game from 90 minutes to 4 hours. American football used to not have instant replay review and adding it has not had a noticeable effect on the average game time.

Whatever it takes to get in commercial time, eh? If the referrees don't agree, take a time out for a referree conference and a vote while we get to watch ####### commercials? Or maybe we spread referrees out over the field but then what would a game with a number of ref's look like? Ref A handing out yellow cards like there's no tomorrow as the guy that referreed GER/SRB did and another who doesn't really bother handing out any like the guy that referreed DEN/CMR? How would that be any more fair and how would that make the game any more enjoyable? Face it, soccer is enjoyed just as it is and it would lose far more fans if it were Americanized than it would gain. Let's not turn soccer into another nightmare sport to watch like American football or baseball.

Its simple the head referee makes the final call.

It seems so a%s backwards to take a sport like soccer that highly depends on one goal and not have a good way of calling the shots.

Adding instant replay makes it Americanized?

It makes no sense to disrupt the flow of a game that is so dependant upon it and momentum. If you stop a game to conference, you give one side or the other a chance to rest, the momemtum that had built up is diminished.

What you are suggesting is transposing american technology and practices in sport where it is inappropriate and with barely a rudimentary understanding of the game.

Were not talking a hundred instant replays a game. If you keep the usage to a minimal it shouldn't effect the "flow". NBA does it just fine and it doesn't interrupt the "flow". Like I said earlier when you have a sport that a lot of times is won on one goal you need to have a better way of officiating it. Theres always room for improvement.

You keep referring to my understanding of the game. I have played a lot of soccer and I have a good understanding of the game. I just dont like watching it, boring.

We had a goal but not given it due to offsides. Watching the play its obvious it was not offsides.

England scored a goal.

That was no off-side. The refs are really trying to #### with America since 2002. It's te same story again.

Oh God! Please make USA victorious today.

That wasn't an off-side. Even a blind bat could've seen it from 50 miles away. Except the officers of FIFA.
