Congratulations!

Before Journey:

Met online in 2002 as friends. Fell in love in 2005. Got engaged in 2010.

K-1 Journey, January 2010-July 2010:

NOA1: January 29. RFE: April 21. NOA2: June 4. Interview: July 15. Visa in hand: July 20. POE: July 22.

July 24, 2010: Married in front of 150 of our loved ones on a beautiful, sunny day. Living happily ever after and oh so thankful that 5 years of a long distance relationship and 7 months of a visa process is condensed into one line.

Wedding pictures! Because I'm shameless. http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/ae47/AmeriDaneWedding/

Adjustment of Status Journey, January 2011-March 2011:

January 25: NOA1 for AOS and EAD. Feb 5: Bio appointment received. Feb 7: RFE. Feb 11: Sent RFE response. Feb 23: AOS transfered to CSC. Feb 25: Biometrics. March 11: EAD approved! March 19: Received EAD. March 21: AOS approved! March 25: GC in hand!

And we'll live happily ever after.. for the next 2 years, anyway.

Here's my experience:

We arrived at the U.S. Embassy at 5:25am. We stayed at Jardines Del Teatro (wonderful place and great hospitality) which is 1 block from the Embassy. As soon as got near the Embassy, buscones were calling to us asking us if we needed anything (we were well-prepared and its best to ignore them because many are scammers). There was several dozen people in line. We found our correct line to get in for residency visas. We got inside at 6:05am and went through security and sat down to wait for my fiancee's name to called. We got called to Window #16 and 7:50am and we turned her Visa documents. The CO (who was very serious, very professional but personable older man) asked her a few questions about our relationship and for her documents.

-Have you ever been married?

-Do you have any children?

-Does your US fiance have any children?

-Do you have children together?

He asked my fiancee these questions while I went to pay the rest of the Visa fee ($219 taxes included) and I returned to the window. He asked us more questions and told us to be prepared for \"any type of question\" because sometimes they can ask tough questions. He joked with us about Philadelphia and eating cheesesteaks and wished us the best and gave us ticket #833.

At 8:40 she was called to have her fingerprints done and we continued to wait until we were called for our interview. While waiting we ate something and got tired because of the heat. We were finally called at 11am to window 22. There was a young (maybe 30\'s) American guy who was very friendly and easy to talk to. He swore us both in and he asked us several questions.

-How did we met?

-When did you met?

-So you already have a travel?

-So you have been to USA to visit? (to fiancee)

-What dates?

-Have been to any other countries?

-Have you been in any trouble here or in the USA? (to fiancee)

-What are your plans for the wedding?

-Were you in Philly or Washington DC during the snowstorm?

-What place has the best cheesesteaks?

Then he said there is no problem in your paperwork, then my fiancee signed one of the Visa forms (DS-156k). WE WERE APPROVED

and she would get her visa in 1 week. The interview was no longer than 5 minutes. We paid the DOMEX fee ($16) and left.

Note: They never asked me for any of my financial forms (I had both my I-134 and I-184 completed with employment letters, paystubs, recent tax forms, etc).

-We had tons of evidence that was never asked for (50 photos, calling cards, travel documents, phone records, internet messaging records, receipts, etc)well kept in a plastic seal-able organized folder.

But it's best to be prepared because they look for organization and how well you interact with your partner (who must be there).

-There are cameras there (and I think they watch how you couples interact with each other) so be aware of that.

-Despite the many fans and water fountains, it gets hot in there and a bit uncomfortable. There is a cafeteria where you can buy food and drinks which is good.

-Dress appropriately...Suits for a K1 Visa are probably not necessary and you will be hot. I seen people who were very formal but I don't think its necessary. Business-casual is fine.

Congratulations!
