CASE TRANSFERED TO CSC ALMOST 6 MONTHS!!! IS THIS NORMAL???

Hi,

I was just wandering.... Our case was transferred on January the 15th (a month after it was received by the Chicago Office) to the California Service Center. It is almost 6 months now and when we check on the USCIS site, it says it is being initially reviewed.

When a case is transferred to the CSC it is supposed to be approved faster.

Any comments? We're freaking out a little bit here..... ;0)

We're in the same boat but no reason to freak. We aren't since the AP and EADs were sent within two months of the filing change. The GC is just a formality to us now.

Ours was transferred since Nov 09 and last Friday (7 MONTHS LATER) they updated the case because I called them and the update say that the case was transferred to the USCIS Office, now I'm worried and confuse because I guess that mean we are going to have an interview. Our cases must have something in common that they are holdind them for along time.

Hi, mine was filed in chicago on November 25, 2009 then it was transferred to california service center on december 23, 2009. exactly 6 months when i called the customer service line and they told me my application is outside of processing time then they gave me a service id number and told me to wait within 5 days for a letter for me to received from them to tell me about whats going on about my application, then it was over then i called again they told me to wait 45 days for them to process my application, and i cant wait that long, so now i already made the infopass and i will have to talk to immigration officer on June 17 in louisville field office because i want them to give me a details and whats really happening.

it sound unfair for those who wait for almost 6 months and keep us waiting.

Mayjs: It doesn't necessarily mean that you will have an interview. Our status was transferred to CSC and then later it said that it was transferred to the local USCIS office but we just got notice of our approval, without an interview. So, hopefully the same will happen for you. Good luck everyone :-)

our case sat on "initial review.....transferred to the local USCIS office" since March 17.

How long after that did you get your approval notice?

It's been more than 6 months since the Receipt date of transfer notice for me. It's been "pending". Now I called the National Customer Service Center 800-375-5283 but I can't find the extension to talk with the operator. How can I talk to a operator? Or should I just make an appointment at the local USCIS office by using infoPass?

FYI, I have not applied for AP or EAD. (But I really should have if I knew it would take this long.....)

Thank you!

Sorry to bother you people. I just found the extension to talk to the operator. They just told me with the local USCIS office they are processing now with the cases received July 2009, so I have 4 months ahead. Thank you all. It seems like it will have taken more than 11 months for me to get green card. (sigh...)

Hi, Magys, please keep us posted. Our case was transferred to CSC in January, then nothing until today where there's a notification that it's been transferred to the local USCIS office. Hopefully it's a standard thing where if the file's been sitting at CSC for 5 months, they ship it back for processing? Let us know what happens to you, please!

Good luck!

My case was transfered to the CSC in Feb, and Im still waiting. My status still says initial review as well. I was told that at times this long can be normal, and that it all depends on the volume of cases they receive. Im just hoping for the best! At this time Im looking into calling/making an infopass appointment. Good luck to you!

Hello everyone,

The same thing is happening with our case. It's been transferred to CSC in March 2010.

I called NCSC (using ext#3 for "change of address" - if anyone knows any other way to talk to operator, please let me know.....) they said that CSC is now processing January cases.

But the operator also told me that CSC never makes the final decision and interview for family based AOS is a must. Therefore, according to NCSC's operator the next step after "initial review" will be interview invitation from my LOCAL office.

So confusing and frustrating....Obviously the operator did not quite know what she was talking about (judging from many people's successful stories with CSC)...

Still I am left green-cardless (((

How do you guys know when the case was "touched"? The only source I know is "check case status online" through USCIS, is that it?

Thanks)
