Hello everyone, I have my EAD since last week. I have been job hunting since then, and I have posted tons of resumes in each job site I found (monster, hotjobs, careerbuilder, indeed, jobing, snagajobs, craigslist, etc..)

I am wondering if there is another way to do it.

Any job agency?....

Any company in particular?

I will appreciate any advise

Thanks

It sounds like you're on the right track. Unless you're in a specialized field Job Agencies are not the route I would suggest taking since they can often limit your options even more (they receive a percentage from the companies they place people with so companies that don't want to pay an agency will never see your resume). Compare your resume and cover letter to samples online to ensure they follow what is expected in the U.S. and if possible have another working professional look over them for any improvements that can be made. Continue to apply for all the jobs that come your way and if possible try to make personal connections in your industry because they may be able to get you into a company you wouldn't have heard of otherwise.

Best of luck to you!

A lot of people are also using social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to find employment. Some are also "pounding the pavement" or going to companies directly. Still some are connecting with people in their community...neighbors and friends.

Good luck with your job search!

Joy Joy, what do you mean by scam jobs?

Craigslist has this posted on their site when you visit the jobs section:

craigslist SCAM ALERT

SCAM ALERT - affiliate scammers are posting bogus ads promising (nonexistent!) employment, paid research trials, or other compensation, but then notifying repliers that they'll need to jump through a hoop first, directing them to:

  • background checking services
  • credit checking or reporting sites
  • sites where you are instructed to enter your resume or other personal information
  • sites where you are asked to sign up for a "free" trial offer
  • sites offering training or education
  • sites offering a "system" for making money
  • survey or focus group sites
  • sites designed to
    or misuse your identifying information

all in hopes of
or otherwise profiting at the expense of persons seeking employment.

Lots of variations on this scam, but each generally involves dangling (nonexistent!) compensation, and then directing you to a website where you are asked to sign up for something, use your credit card, or input personal information such as your email address.
