How to deal with the down time

All I can say is 'you lucky things'.

I would love to choose a house based on how big the garden is, rather than how many utilities are included in the rent.

There are a lot of great places I've seen but only one looks any good so far. I sometimes wish we could both fit in my apartment so I wouldn't have to move -- I hate moving and my cat hates it even more.

I'm dealing with the down time right now by talking to him on the phone. It's a welcome break from work. :)

So thankful our only downtime is now when the *poor tired baby* takes naps... at 4:25pm! Can't blame jetlag anymore! ::pats sleeping beneficiary::

Ah well. It's our five year anniversary today... I'll let him sleep. (L)

I've been spending time looking at houses recently. I keep finding places that are almost right but not quite, like there's only three bedrooms instead of four, or the bathroom is a terrible color, or the yard isn't big enough... It's SO frustrating because once I find one I like my fiance will be coming over to handle the sale, which means I will get to see him. Obviously I want that to happen as fast as possible so I have a real incentive to look harder! :star:

You're dismissing potential houses because of bathroom color?????

I rolled my eyes at that one too, Lisa. Why do I sense the hand of Julian behind this?

Couldn't you just repaint the bathroom if it's in a color you don't like? I hate that 'vomit green' color as much as the next person but I'm not going to cross off a potential house just because the bathroom's painted in an ugly color.

Yeah as a realtor, I think that's just ridiculous. And if a buyer of mine was that picky, I'd prolly dump her by referring her to a newer agent...let him/her waste his/her time with a buyer who wants the previous buyer to have esp as far as the new buyer's exact tastes. Cabinets/wall color can be changed, and easily. Sounds like tire kicking to me.

(eta: if they were that 'qualified' financially, and I had proof of such, and some sort of buyer-agreement, I'd play along for a bit, but I'd be previewing properties alone, as to not waste my time taking someone out who is just gonna poo-poo everything)

But I don't buy Julian as the 'big bad' guy...actually, I think their personas here are figments of someone's wild imagination...one who is relying heavily on the 'California ditzy girl' and 'English aristocrat' stereotypes just a little too much. But sometimes, I don't mind playing along if I'm bored!

He's booking his tickets to come over in three weeks' time to come look at houses with me! I can't wait. I think I will deal with the down time now by doing a LOT of cleaning!

Oh, and I was just kidding about the bathroom! I guess it's just I look at the really ugly ones and think, ugh. I have to fix this too? I'd just like to be able to move in somewhere. I have found two, maybe three houses now that look like possibles!

If remodeling is an issue for you, and for a lot of people it is, I would say start looking at new homes, or homes being built so you can chose those things. To me bathroom color is not a big deal, but I LIKE to get my hands dirty with remodeling projects. :) My brother and sister in law bought a new house recently and it's fairly neutral....well, it's neutral city. You said you were looking forward to decorting anyway, so go neutral if you can. You can also ask for painting/flooring allowances. ;)

The house with the ugly bathroom made it on my shortlist.

I'm passing the time trying to figure out whether the fact I just got a touch means I will be getting my NOA2 soon! OK, so I'm passing the time obsessing over this.

Yes, I would guess your petition was approved today, but it may be a day or two before they send the email. Well, based on mine, the email came but when the actual paper NOA2 came in the mail, it was dated two days before the email. The first touch in a month was the date on the NOA. Two days later a touch and the email. Two days after that another touch that it was headed off to NVC.

Not alone in the obsessing.....I check at least twice a day! I just wanna touch!. I have mumbled that under my breath so much co workers are now bumping me and teasing knowing how much I want this "TOUCH" which would be quickly followed by a party!

You can stand me at the gates of hell, but I wont back down.

You know, I happened across a thread int he waiver section about the Brits needing waivers, and it really broke my heart. If any of you have the time, you should give some of it a read....it really puts waiting in perspective.

If you could say a prayer or send good mojo to those peeps, I'm sure they'd appreciate it.
