The USS Liberty was hardly a frontline warship, though, and probably never knew what was coming its way.

If you're going to escort a humanitarian aid cargo ship, you need a frontline warship, with effective means of detecting and responding to sub-surface, surface and aerial threats, something Israel has never had to face before.

They knew something was coming, just not exactly what the Israeli intentions were. The ship had a full electronics package, otherwise there was no reason for it to be there, or the personnel they had on board.

Perhaps they should have done "something". There really are no innocent bystanders in a case like that. Something the Allied liberators made the local German population very much aware of.

Anyway, I just read something very interesting. Apparently Eqypt is revoking citizenship of Egyptians who are married to Israelis! How messed up is that!

No 1. In many ghettos they fought back against the SS soldiers when they entered the camps. Infact polish resistence armed them with machine guns.

No 2. Many didn't actually know what was going to happen to them until they were already being killed.

That post actually scares me. Moreover it invalidates many of the previous arguments, as coming from a "Neutral position"

I never said they lacked "innocence" as you put it. What was done to them was unwarranted genocide, plain and simple. Maybe it is just my Irish stubbornness, but I would have found some way to resist up to the moment I was shot, hung, or ran over by a tank.

I think one reason Israel became what it was, is that no one was there to stop what happened, there was no one to take up the cause for the slaughter of innocent people. Not the German people, and not the Allies. Everyone gained a conscious after the deed was done, and still, no one took up the cause of the refugees. What was left, the survivors, found their own way to Palestine, and built a nation, based on the premise that the Jewish people must rely on their own devices, to survive.

That was in reply to your statement, that the Polish Jews did not fire rockets at innocent civilians. Those innocent civilians, I assume, are folks that are not stopping the atrocities committed by those fighting on their behalf. It was in that context, that I was referring to.
