Yea, I'm aware of all the expenses it will take to process the Visa. Also wanted to mention in the working is my own business outside the Ministry is developing Christian adventure and action games base on the Word of God for XBox, Wii, Sony, etc... Hoping to have my first game completed by Dec for Christmass. Before working witht he Post Office I worked as a Software Engineer for 16+ years. If push comes to shove then I would have no choice to find another job while doing the ministry.

How would I include this in the documents to show I will be able to take care of her? Also my Fiance has 3 plus years of experience of sales working in Furniture and Hotel club promotions. She is still currently working in Furniture sales.

I'll let those who have gone through Manila speak to this specifically, but you will have to prove you can support her. It doesn't sound like your current venture helps you in that sense at all.

And her job experience means little to them. That doesn't necessarily mean she will get a job here easily, not to mention the fact that there will be a period of time after she arrives where she cannot legally work. Thus, your support of her will be vital during that time.

Hi,

I don't know anything about the Philippines. But maybe I can help understanding what you need for the K1 process. Pictures together, especially any with family or friends, are nice to supplement a record of having met in person in the last 2 years (I submitted copies of passports but since the stamps aren't super clear also itinerary confirmations). In my opinion, these pictures are nice to show you have a real relationship--although this may not matter to get through the first steps, it will in the end. Additionally, if I worked processing visas some pictures of happy couples doing fun things together would make me a little more dedicated to reviewing the forms. In addition to having met in person, they will want you to show an ongoing relationship. I think it is good to have both pictures with different dates and in different settings, as well as some sort of a "communication record". We also don't use the phone very much, so I did a search of my email inbox (which includes chats and emails) of his name and printed out the pages of conversation records- several each day, every day, since we met. I can't say if this was the best thing, but that's the evidence I submitted and it's worked for us.

Regarding finances/working: we are both students with low income but a lot of potential. They don't care about potential, only what is tangible, in the US, right now. You will need to save to pay all the fees. If getting married to this person is your priority, you have to sacrifice and put that first. Once you get to the final steps of the visa and have to file the affidavit of support, you will have to prove that you make enough to keep yourself, your new spouse, and any other dependents from collecting any public support. If you don't currently make enough to do that (right now, and in a stable and sustainable way that you can prove), you can still do the visa but you will need a cosponsor who makes enough to support all of you and is willing to provide documentation to that effect.

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone! You have been most helpful in clearing up what I need to do. Looks like the best route is to see about getting the Fee paid and then get another job that pays well enough to make this process successful.

I hear ya! Something I don't wont to do! I'd rather have it done know in this term. She is a wonderful, kind, thoughtful, caring woman! Very family oriented and faithful! She's the woman and wife of my dreams and I don't wont to lose her! She wants to get married and have a family and I know she will get upset if I allow this term to elapse! She finally made up her mind that she wants to marry me, because all the other men she had dated only wanted her for sex without getting married. That was a BIG turn off to her!

So over the years she has now fallen in love with me, but it came after I was laid off from the Post Office. So I'm scrambling to pull this off before July 30th!

I'm having her send me a completed G-325A, The Intent to Marry Letter and a current Passport Picture now.

You'll need any evidence proving you have actually met in person within the past two years. That means you'll probably want to send along with the I-129F petition the following: boarding passes, passport stamps, itinerary, hotel receipts or any other receipts, atm withdrawls in the foreign country, photos(VJ members send a different number of photos, some of them only two, while others send 30.). You can also add evidence of ongoing relationship if you like to. But THAT doesn't count, maybe they will look over it after they have went through the primary evidence of having met in person. When they've taken a decision, they would see the evidence of ongoing rel. and they'll say to themselves: Definitely an approval. :P

The MOST important thing remains: the primary evidence, like I said: boarding passes, passport stamps, itinerary, hotel receipts or any other receipts, atm withdrawls in the foreign country, photos(VJ members send a different number of photos, some of them only two, while others send 30.)

GOOD LUCK!

BTW, check out the step-by-step guide. It's very helpful and it's... COMPLETE. I 'made this post possible' by reading a great part of VJ. So... do that, you won't regret it!

Oh yes, I have everything mention. In fact, I have about sixteen pictures of us together in serveral places, even in the lobby of the hotel and two pictures of both of us with her parents at Trinoma Mall.

Thanks for help!

I don't quite understand want you mean about the Philippines "frowning upon co-sponsore showing financial stability". Are you saying they don't like me supporting my fiance finacially? All the Philippinos I know her especially the mothers love it that I do that! So you must referring to the government?

When your fiancee has her interview she will need to take a form (the I-134) that has been filled out by you (and including evidence such as pay stubs, tax returns, etc) showing that you can support her financially (ie, that you make over a certain amount of money per year - 125% of the poverty level for your family size.) If you don't make over that amount, some Embassies/Consulates will allow you to arrange for a co-sponsor - another US Citizen who agrees to support her in the event that you cannot. SOME Embassies (including the Manilla Embassy, from what I've seen here) frown on co-sponsors & often don't allow it. Check the Phillipines forum for more info/advice.

Where is the Philippines forum? WOuld you give me a link, because either your referring to another site or I just can't find here..

Well, if there government was not so corrupt she would be able to take care of her family mush better. She has eight sisters and three brothers and their still having financial shortage. One of her brothers is mentally ill.

Remember I've been there and seen their poverty status. There worst off then the US. Not all! But, too much of it is bad! So, for them not want to recieve outside help is far beyond me.

Here's the link to the Philippines forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

The government is not saying that you shouldn't support her family or that you giving them money is a bad thing. The US government needs to know that when your fiancee moves to the US, you can support HER. If you choose to also support her family, that's your business. The I-134 is in place to make sure that you make enough money to make sure that your future wife does not become a public charge of the US government. If you make more than 125% of the poverty level you don't need a co-sponsor. If you don't make more than 125% of the poverty level then you may run into a problem since the Manila Embassy does not look highly upon the petitioner (that's you) requiring a co-sponsor (ie, you don't make more than 125% of the poverty level, so someone else has to say they will support your fiancee if necessary) and may not accept one. They are in no way saying that you can't help support your fiancee's family.

I think you're getting off on a tangent because you misunderstood Missa's post. The term "frown upon co-sponsors to show financial stability" meant that the Embassy in Manila has been known to not accept co-sponsor's for K1 visas. They prefer the petitioner (who is the primary sponsor) to be able to qualify to sponsor on their own, without a co-sponsor. There are other countries that are equally reluctant to accept a co-sponsor for a K1.

For what it's worth, the majority of countries in the world are worse off than the US, and many of their governments are even more corrupt than the Philippines. According to the UN Development Program, about 25% of people in the Philippines live below the poverty line. Think that's bad? In Vietnam it's about 29%. In Laos it's 33%, and in Cambodia it's 35%. Still, that's nothing compared to Bangladesh (49%), Bolivia (65%), or the Congo and Madagascar (tied at 71%). In Malawi, over 90% of the population live on the equivalent of less than $2 per day.

Life is rough out there. Sometimes we forget how good we've got it here.

Oooh K! Now I understand! You have to excuse me, because I never done this before and all this reading is making it slow to click upstairs. Thanks for link!

Well, I'll just have to get a job and get help from one of my friends for the fee. So hopefully before the interview either my Ministry is large enough to work full time, I have a good enough job to take care of her or I can finish my first XBox console game and make a big sale!

Thanks again everyone for clearing this up for me!
