Sure we all knew that they basically give you the printer and gouge you on the ink thus the insane profit margin...The funny part with these clowns is even if you print black and white the colour ink goes down LOL..No doubt due to a built in counter everytime you use the printer..whether you use yellow or not doesn't seem to really matter and why should it with those profit margins to be made?

I bought a clone ink set of cartridges online last year with my old Epson and it worked pretty well..no it wasn't the great ...(at least as they seem to think)... "durabrite" but I didn't have to sell the car either to pay for the ink...Can't for the life of me remember the place though..

Anyone have a good (online or otherwise) place to get cheap catridges that work with the Epson chip and have good colour?CX5400 BTW...

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

Best,

Kev

Kevin,

I've seen ink syringes that you can buy which essentially refill your existing cartridge cheaply. Do a Google search - there's got to be plenty of sources out there.

I'm one of those "lucky" ones that has an HP printer...can't use the syringe type ink refills. For the modest sum of only $60 I can get a colour cartridge and a black cartridge for my printer. Oh Joy.

I do have one with 4 seperate cartridges. 1 black..3 colour...Every time you use the black ink for say a black and white page..the colour goes down anyway. This is because Epson uses a "how many times the print function is used" on the chip..rather than the colour itself being applied to the page. My yellow is at half and I think I have used it maybe twice with the replacement

Kev

I use to hate the whole black and color cartridges!

I now have a printer that only uses 1 color cartridge, only 1 to replace!

Fortunately I do not print much!

I have a CX3810 and this is where I got my last black cartridge, pretty good price. I have not tested it much, I actually just put it in last night because I usually use another printer.

 Or you just stock pile the landfills with old printers. Lexmark printers can be picked up as little as $35 with cartridges in the box. Makes it quite easy to purchase a new printer everytime vs $70 worth of ink. If you want a cheapo do the job sort of printer that is.

Also, one can buy ink/cartridges from NuKote--I've seen for most models at Target. NuKote cartridges are almost cent-percent refillable (where OEM ones aren't).

Not just Epson, lot of manufacturers doing the same thing. I doubt it there's 50% ink, to the point where i call some of those printers DISPOSABLE,

You buy a printer on sale for $50 then just under 2 months you have to refill, the replacement can cost you close to $50, it's madness, just rippin off customer, they are making the money into the after market

Gone but not Forgotten!
