Form Correction Question

I don't know.

I would think it's a bad idea, though. I think it's a legal document, and legal documents don't use correction tape or fluid. They use a single line crossthough the mistake with the correction written above it and the initials of the person making the form (in this case the beneficiary). Or they get rewritten entirely.

Since you need the beneficiary's initials anyway, I'd think just getting a new one would be a better idea.

Wait for just a little while, though, and I'm sure someone will be along with another answer.

Hello VJ's

I just want to know if using correction tape, for correcting something from the form will lead to RFE? or re-submission of the whole package or form?

thanks

Depends on what you're correcting but I would avoid correction on the DS 230 if possible.

As pushbrk said, it depends entirely on WHAT you corrected, on which form, and how badly you messed up.

As a standard if you make an error you should NEVER use correction tape and instead either retype or rewrite the page in question.

As an example, if you wrote a birthdate wrong, say in the wrong format like dd/mm/yyyy instead of mm/dd/yyyy then that's not too bad. BUT if you wrote "jane" instead of "lucy" on a form it looks suspicious. Occasionally they will simply note the correction, then remove the correction tape as best they can to see what the issue was. If it's not a big deal they'll ignore it, if it IS then yes they may issue an RFE.

At worst you'll resubmit a form, it doesn't mean a denial... well that's unless you wrote your fiance's name as Jimmy Bob Lewis instead of Mary Jane Smith...then you might have an issue :P

Or just line through and correct it that way.

I guess I am related to this question...

I've sent my DS-230 to my husband, but, incorrectly put on Part 1 Item 9, regarding the "including my present marriage, I have been married _____ times" I put 1.

Info about me: I was annulled 1 time and now married to my husband (petitioner)

I've asked few VJ'ers and they said it supposed to be 2. But too late, I'd already mailed it. Can he also use wipe out liquid? Is this ground for RFE?

Thanks.
