I had the Nuva Ring and I liked it and disliked it all at the same time. I liked it because I didn't need to remember it daily like the pill (which I constantly forgot), but then it kept feeling like it was sliding out of me. Did you have that problem? Was I doing it wrong? LOL. Also, I kept thinking (will this really work when I have sex?) I don't know, I guess I just worried that Patrick would pull it out or it would be uncomfortable for him.

Maybe you didnt have it far up enough? I know the pamphlet says if you feel any discomfort it could be because the ring wasnt placed far up enough, I've never had that problem, i check for it every day because i cant feel it and just want to make sure its still there lol. keith doesnt even feel it, i told the doctor about how keith was worried he'd pull it out and he said that he wouldnt and he hasnt yet.

the thought of hormonal bc scares me.. so i've never used it, even though my gyno always tries to convince me to try it. i always accept her prescription to make her feel satisfied but i never get it filled.. haha. i'm scared it would mess up my body.. so i always use condoms and it's never failed on me..

I use a pill called gestinol28, like the name says, the box comes with 285 pills instead of 21, and you take it non stop, meaning you don't have a period. Anyone know what would that pill be named in US? 'Cus this one I take it's from a brazilian company, Libbs.

Also, living in PR I'm still not sure where I'll find something like a planned parenthood and am worried about the costs of the pill once my stock finishes up.

Whoa, I have never heard of a pill like that! Maybe I will buy it in BR. I take one called Seasoniq (used to be Seasonale) that gives you 4 periods a year.

It's the same in Brasil but I didn't want to rely on my mother shipping pills over.

EDIT: Typo in my previous post, the box comes with 28 pills, not 285. :P

The bc situation here in the States sucks!!! Insurance sucks too!

There are these things that also suck called condoms.... they work... (if you use them!)

Good luck!

And remember, "pull and pray," although usually effective, isn't an actual form of bc.

What, you mean that doesn't work?

Our healthplan pays for some pills - the doctor first prescribed me Yasmin, and they only paid like 3 Dollars. I didn't like it and did some research and found the American equivalent of my European Miranova. It is called Lutera here and is a generec drug, therefor I pay now 90 Dollars for a 12 months supply! :)

My sister tried the Nuvaring and hated it. Another friend of mine has that implant in her arm which is good for three years, but I am not sure if this is available in the US.

Also, let your relatives send the stuff over - I did that in the beginning! Ordered it in Holland, shipped to Germany and then they sent it to me.....

Btw I do not recommend Yasmin, its component (one of them, the non-estrogen) is considered might-be-cancer-triggering according to the German FDA. Lutera/Miranova is save and has been tested so quite a while.....

I hope that they invent the pill for the man soon!

I haven't taken birth control in awhile but the doctor recently gave me a prescription for Alesse because I had used that in the past....

but the pharmacy gave me Lutera as a substitution for Alesse... I only had to pay 10 bucks for 28 pills... I guess my health insurance covered the rest
