I love tripping into Austin, but - I'm a prude, mostly - so I stay away from these fellas -

BUT - many ppl love that (I'm not one of them) and Austin is a great mecca for it.

The price points on real estate is split north/south. There are pockets of exception, you betcha.

If yer trying to get out of the Bible Belt in Texas, Austin is NOT a bad place to escape.

Lots of 'current culture' events, as well. Can't speak of public transport, as I always drive in a car when I'm there, usually a week at a time for some business meetings, usually 4 to 7 times each year. (Most of the VC money boys are in Austin, I go there for projects)

Great Universities, also - know NOTHING of the high schools or elementary schools.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

How you like it there? It's another area we'd consider.
Austin's traffic is so terrible that I barely want to visit there (just did, earlier this month, & was reminded why not to). Mrs. T-B. & I live in Sugar Land, a southwestern 'burb of Houston -- one of the top-5 "safest cities" of its size in the U.S., & very appealing, & within range of everything in Houston. Sadly, it cannot compare with Canandaigua, no man. PM me with your e-ddress and we'll caucus, si man.

Si, man, but there are back ways & detours. Been down on this side since 2003 and am still discovering alternate routes. Hope you don't have to deal with the NW Fwy every day, no man!

i know lots of back ways in s_land. they all are time consuming. the nw area of houston is easier to deal with.

It would help out more to know what you like and things you want to do. Austin has a great music scene and always a good outdoor festival somewhere nearby. They do have many great places to get out and do things also like the hill country and the lakes just north. San Antonio is nearby. Town lake inside Austin and Barton springs. The traffic has gotten really bad though.

The Dallas area and Houston area has their up and downs. It would help to know what you like to do. Can't say much about Dallas as I don't live there but visit sometimes but Houston has a lot going for it but it is very humid during summer.( babes wear less clothing though) I live between Houston and Galveston and next to the water but I love to fish sometimes and the golfing is awesome. The beach is close in Galveston. Great fresh seafood as the boats come in near me. Always a decent band around to see. I like sports big time and go into the city and see my faves when I can but get the hell out to my suburb.

Businesses and jobs are good here now and the housing prices are moderate. My brother likes and lives in Sugar land also and when I go see him I say he is nuts.

To each his own, si man. I lived on the north side for a few years and continually had trouble, but I'm sometimes directionally challenged, oof man. I wonder how many VJ'ers live in our area, and if a social caucus couldn't be arranged, si man?

compared to s_land ... the land of traffic jams ... we have good stuff here including the cyfair schools. there again ... if sitting in traffic on a mobile phone is your life s_land is perfect.

Do get out to the SW area around Bellaire now and again as I have to to see wifes family there in the Asian section. I also have a best friend that lives in Missouri City on the Golf course Quial Valley and love that place. Very nice.
