Hello all -

I keep reading and reading...as most of us going through this do. Our I-129f is set to go, however, i am reading about some filing on-line? Can anyone elaborate please!

also-

I was under the impression that the medical and interview are conducted the same day - is this correct? I sure hope so as the consulate is a 9 hour drive for me, as its in Montreal and i am in new brunswick!

any feed back greatly appreciated - wishing everyone quick, and hassle free filing!

Thanks very Much

Jen

As far as I know, online filing is still not available for K1s...

CR1s can file online... not K1s.

For the medical in Montreal, you can not have the medical and the interview the same day.

The quickest Ive seen is 3 days to get your results.

You'll need to spend a few days in Montreal - your medical needs to come before the interview because you need to present the results at the interview and it takes about 3 days from the medical to the results being ready

Good luck.

I don't know if this will help, it seems you already had your answer, but I would try to get my medical before the interview and make two trips. You never know what might happen and you might not get the results in time for your interview. You would hate yourself for that forever if for SOME reason they weren't ready, you know? I've seen people on here getting their medical a month prior to their interview. Since there seems to be a good 3-6 months wait for the consulate in Montreal, you have time to plan it out.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

There is no online petition filing for any family based visa. What is available for spouse and other immediate relative immigrant visas is electronic "processing" at the NVC stage after petition approval.

Oh, right. Thank you, I knew the word wasn't "filing" and the right term wasnt coming back to mind.

Maybe the OP was thinking of the form that is filled online, for packet 3... the DS-160?

That is the only form that you get the fill online, and that's not before the consulate stage, after the petition is approved.

If you were going through the Vancouver consulate, you'd be able to do the medical and the interview on the same day. That service is offered by the panel physician in Vancouver. On the other hand, you'd pay through the nose for that convenience, so it kinda balances out.

I was therefore able to do the whole thing in one two-day trip, which is good, as Vancouver is a lot more than 9 hours from Winnipeg :) More like 6 hours by plane! (Course that's because the reasonably cheap WestJet commuter flights seem like they land at every wide spot in the road between Winnipeg and the Rockies!)

US immigration procedures seem to be designed for small countries, where everybody is no more than 3-4 hours from a US consulate. Sucks to be in a big country and have to deal with regulations designed for a small one, don't it? :)

you need your p3 in hand to book the medical usually. they will want it/ copy of it as it has your consulate case number on it.

If you filled in your info / timeline as to what your applying for, and which consulate it would help us give you more pertinent info for your case.

and the online petition your are thinking of is the worker based one the regular I-129. any family based one cannot be done online. the only parts that can be done are at the nvc stage and that is for spousal only.
