Only 20% Say Most in Congress Will Understand Health Care Plan Before They Vote On It

Perhaps that’s one reason why 50% of voters say they’re less likely to vote to reelect a member of Congress who supports the health care bill. Despite President Obama’s current full-court press to build public support for the plan, just 45% of voters now support it, while 52% are opposed.

Driving this skepticism in part is voters’ continuing belief that they have a better understanding of the health care reform proposal than Congress does.

Forty-nine percent (49%) of voters rate their own understanding of the plan as good or excellent. Twenty-four percent (24%) think their understanding of it is poor.

By contrast, only 26% believe Congress has a good or excellent understanding of the health care plan proposed by the president and congressional Democrats. Thirty-eight percent (38%) of voters say Congress has a poor understanding of it.

Health care reform will pass. And the sun will come up the day after. A bit brighter than before, perhaps. Can you handle it? Or is the realization that the majority will pass a piece of legislation as has been done decade after decade in this country causing irreparable damage to you?

I don't suppose you even have a clue what is being voting on tomorrow, or next week, or when they finally get it together? Of course you don't. The manager's amendment is still being written, which is why we don't have a rule yet, and why they can't set a time for the vote.

How popular was the Civil Rights Act with the public when it was passed in 64? Or Social Security, or Medicaid, or Medicare? Many people approved going to Iraq but looked how that turned out. Just because a bill is "unpopular" doesn't mean it is a bad bill.

conversely, just because it's popular doesn't mean it's a good bill.

but funny you should mention iraq - i'm sure quite a few supported that due to the mistruths that were told - in that way, it kinda reminds me of the upcoming vote on health care. :hehe:

Good point but on which side of the aisle are the mistruths? I suspect it is on the right side since the Republicans have offered no substance what so ever why this bill shouldn't pass just sound bites into scaring people.

Death Panels, Communism, Socialism, Marxist, Spreading the Wealth, Rationing, Bureaucrat etc etc

The bill that will be voted on is done. As is the reconciliation measure. Forget Glenn for a second and step into reality.

All 3 of those highlighted are complete and utter failures, especially in an economic sense......

and yes Iraq was wrong too.

It does NOTHING to fix the current ACTUAL problems, yet people are being damn blind and listening to what turds in Washington are saying versus actually looking at the legislation and what it does....

We will know what is in the bill once it is passed. The Socialists will be happy that they have done it finally and the Neocons will do nothing to get rid of it once they come to power after the midterms. Same old thing as always.

Oh and we will have another record deficit this year, and the year after and so on while the Socialist are in power.

The great socialist lie:

"Each according to his need, each according to his ability."

(They neglect to tell you about the gulags, the reeducation camps, and the killing fields.)
