Hey everyone,

Ok, so here I am waiting and expecting our NOA2, since fellow Vermont Center/November filers have started to receive theirs, and I'm wondering if I should actually be expecting an RFE instead...

Here's why I'm a little paranoid: on the I-129F question "How we met", we did have to include a page-long attachement to explain how we had met in the last two years and how we maintained our relationship in the last two years. However, I'm wondering if they wanted a detailed explanation of that. I mean, we stated that we met in Quebec, and blah blah blah, but I'm scared they will request further evidence... We explained how he stayed in Quebec with him and visited, and how we drove together back to the U.S so that I can spent time there and visit. I also included e-mails, 1 flight info for me going back (car was out of order at that point), 5 pictures of us...Did you guys go into extreme details on that one?

How about those of you who have recently received their NOA2, especially November filers in Vermont? Do you think I'm just freaking out - yeah I know I haven't included a lot of info here - but help, I'm afraid I'll fail my medical for being psychotic!

Thanks!

Some people have written one or two lines and gotten an approval.

So yes, I think you're being paranoid. :P

We didn't go into much detail. We just told how we had met for the first time, and then included a timeline of all the other visits we had up until our filing. It wasn't in great detail, and we didn't get an RFE for it.

USCIS doesn't care about the evidence of a relationship. They just want to know that you've met in the past 2 years. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Provide that information to them, and you're golden.

Of course, that didn't stop me from frontloading my petition with phone bills, bank statements, hotel receipts, plane ticket stubs, etc. It made me feel better. :)

Good luck!

You're more than likely being paranoid which is expected as most of us were LOL!

as for the meeting..all you had to do was prove you met in person. pics passport stamps etc. relationship evidence is not needed at the initial stage with the i-129f application. I submitted a two line sentance with 3 pics and it was good enough.

Gosh, was I ever being paranoid! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I feel kinda stupid, but feel a lot better!

Here's the thing - whether you end up getting an RFE or an approval aside - one or the other of those two things will happen when they actually look at your file (which apparently they haven't done yet). For now, there's no reason to be paranoid - according to your timeline - you're just about coming up on your potential date range so you should try to relax and just wait out the next coming days/weeks. :star:

As for the how-we-met thing - many folks (all successful) wrote virtually one-liners (fit on the form by itself) with no problems.

We wrote 2 sentences about how we met and maintained the relationship and were approved with no RFE. I'm sure things will work out fine for you.

Hehe - you shouldnt feel stupid or anything of the sort!

During this process there is often a fine line between paranoia, sanity and confusion!

Sounds like you've got everything in order so relax a bit, there will me more days ahead that you will have the opportunity to feel this way all over again.

More detail is typically a good thing down the road and not a bad thing up front. I had a bit of "paranioa" myself, in our case I sent wedding photos with my I129F package (K-1 application). I also sent a page long explanation to explain that while we had a traditional wedding, we did it out of respect and honor for her family and so they could all attend but we didnt register the marriage and would be married in the US. So imagine the thoughts that went through my mind while windering if they would accept our petition and explanation!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the end it all worked out fine, so the only result of my worrying was that I lost a bit more hair haha!

Good Luck and Best Wishes along your journey!!!

From an earlier post of mine:

Frontloading is considered advisable in many cases at the K-1 phase because, while USCIS is reasonably consistent and transparent, some consulates and consulate officers are known to be very strict and very arbitrary, much more so than the USCIS. Frontloading is essentially an end run around the worst of the consulate's obstructionism, forcing them to accept and consider evidence they might not otherwise want to have to care about.

Canada's consulates tend to be very reasonable (Canadians not generally being seen (by consulate staff) as desperate third world con artists who'd sell their mothers to escape to the US) - unlike some consulates, they will generally accept relationship evidence at the interview, and tend not to conduct their interviews as a premeditated search for an excuse to deny, so frontloading the I-129F petition to force them to at least consider some relationship evidence isn't really necessary. We included a dozen or two photos, a stack of emails, and photocopies of airline boarding passes, but it was probably unnecessary.

An excellent post, with key interspersions lest anyone make assumptions about other places and "relax":

Canada's consulates tend to be very reasonable (Canadians not generally being seen (by consulate staff) as desperate third world con artists who'd sell their mothers to escape to the US) - unlike some consulates
-- Ecuador being one --
they will generally accept relationship evidence at the interview
-- unlike Ecuador --
and tend not to conduct their interviews as a premeditated search for an excuse to deny
-- as does Ecuador, in every instance --
so frontloading the I-129F petition to force them to at least consider some relationship evidence isn't really necessary
-- as is crucial for Ecuador.
We included a dozen or two photos, a stack of emails, and photocopies of airline boarding passes
-- which would be wholly inadequate for Ecuador --
but it was probably unnecessary.
Bless the Canadian consulates for not being like Ecuador's hellhole.
