Yeah, that is odd. I've never heard of something like that - kosher diet as a cancer cure? Weird. Maybe one of the patients kept kosher, so to simplify the food preparation in the cafeteria they just made it kosher for everyone?

I don't think so just because it was the diet they were prescribed to follow while at home. So, that still strikes me as odd. Of course it's not kosher-kosher since they weren't really doing all the bells and whistles, but as far as prohibitions on what is not to be considered food, it was the same.

Fried alligator tail is incredibly delicious btw, perfect with tartar sauce and beer. It tastes like the perfect mix of chicken and fish flavors. Frog legs are awesome too. I'm not a fan of lamb but if it's grilled over coals the crispy crust tastes awesome, but not a fan of it stewed as it's too gamey.

See, I think lamb's fine in stew, but mutton does get a little gamey when braised (but I'm a fan of most game, as both of my grandfathers and my father hunt and fish -- I grew up eating vension, elk, rabbit, the rare squirrel, pheasant, duck, goose, and various fish as much as eating the more standard beef, pork, and chicken).

I do think rabbit's delicious, though.

some Catholics still do this, but a lot don't. Depends. It's during Lent on Fridays & for that reason my favorite pizza place is always PACKED on Fridays during lent. Everybody ordering their pizzas and pastas without meat.
