Rumor has it AJ is "erecting one" for her quite regularly. :hehe:

Didnt you erect one for Obama? Or is it still in the erection process?

That's an interesting comparison, to Reagan. And somewhat apt.

Not entirely though. By 1980 Reagan was established as a much more serious heavyweight candidate. He had been a two-term Governor of the biggest state in the nation, with a well defined and articulated position on key issues. Palin has abruptly resigned in mid-term of her first term as Governor of a relatively small state, and for the life of me I can't see her seriously addressing key issues other than parroting the sound bites of the day. That doesn't disqualify her, but she has her work cut out for her.

Really...? Someone needs to check their facts source!

Yes, really.

As to whether Reagan was a twice-elected Governor:

* 33rd Governor of California

* In office January 3, 1967 – January 7, 1975

* Elected in Nov 1966, defeating Edmund G. "Pat" Brown, and sworn into office on January 3, 1967.

* Re-elected in Nov 1970, defeating "Big Daddy" Jesse M. Unruh. He chose not to seek a third term in the following election cycle.

Check.

As to whether CA was during those years the biggest state in the nation:

At the beginning of 1963, California (according to census estimates) became the nation's most populous state; its population continued to increase at a rate of 1,000 net migrants a day through the middle of the decade.

Check.

That would make it the most populous state. That would make it the biggest state by population. It doesn't make it the biggest state in the nation. But it sounds good to people who are stupid enough to believe it so enjoy your delusions.

I see. So, Sarah is actually more qualified as half governor of the biggest state in the Union. Never mind that it ranks 45 in terms of GDP and 47 in terms of population. It's population is a tiny fraction of that of the Tampa Bay metro area but hey, it's the biggest state and therefore, Sarah has the biggest qualification for the highest office - at least for half a term. :rofl:

Completely missed the point but still funny as hell. Palin isn't qualified for much of anything. I think she'd probably have a hard time getting the right products in a Happy Meal box.

Would you like fries with that?

I will be the first to admit Palin is weak on experience (when we are talking about sitting in the White House) but as I pointed out earlier Obama was just as weak and he seemed to overcome it with other qualities and it is possible she can too.

The interesting angle to all this is, a year ago, ALL of us were certain Young Barack was certain to be a two-term president..... now we are grappling over, the person best qualified to replace him in 2012.

I actually believe it is very possible he could turn his rapid slide around.... and he has the time to do it.

Even the most loved and respected President in recent memory (Reagan) lost considerable public support in his first year or two in his first term.

Now, how is it my VJ buds can envision "Obamas turn-around" but not Palins?

Both have time to develop broader support.... they just have different changes to make.

Someone who has an educated background could, not someone who thinks college educated people are elitists snobs.

The difference is, that Palin has no interest in foreign policy, no specific interest in national policy agendas and no real goals beyond some really general pop culture sloganized goals such as returning America back into the country that real Americans want to live in. She doesn't read, she doesn't study, she doesn't want to do anything beyond smile and tell voters how it would be great to live in America if we just return to 'traditional' values' presumably by slashing government spending, and government (federal) influence in every day life. That's completely meaningless, even if it does make the 'common man' feel good.

Owning an SUV is not the be all and end all of life, and nor are 'low taxes'.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
