back to the OP.. I don't really think it's American vs European or whatever... I think it's a GOOD woman versus someone you need to kick to the curb.

Bitches need to be taught being a ###### doesn't get them everything they want. If someone "docked me points" for not knowing the right kind of flower (or with guys, beer ) they're totally not worth the effort...

That said, if you don't pay enough attention and have been together long enough to KNOW the fave, I'd prolly be a little upset that you didn't care enough to take note. No issue with my husband though. I mentioned in passing my ring size was more a half (before knowing you could have 1/2 and 1/4's and whatever) and he actually got it done that size. It mattered to me that he listened when I didn't even mean for it to be a "take note" moment..
