Am I missing something here, or does it seem stupid that Repubs stay put when Obama proposes things they have been tossing (foaming at the mouth) over for years?

Or is this how politics plays out in the US? Where once the opposing party is in control, you just berate and ignore everything they say and do. Even when they propose what you proposed.

Sounds more like children than a united first world country.

I didn't watch it, but if he talked about freezing the budget and cutting spending that is total BS coming from him and as long as the Dems control the House and Senate they aren't going to freeze spending,

all that clapping is a headache.

Lots of them have a bad case of the clap.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

The Republican's are attempting to recast themselves as scion's of propriety, the true people's party, with nothing but fiscal soundness in mind...

Americans have a great president right now. The man is sincere and the country has a great opportunity, I hope they use that opportunity.

He reminded me yet again why I voted for him. He is a breath of fresh air in the Washington political culture and it's an inspiration to hear him speak.

Did you listen to the whole speech Danno? Just wondering.

I remember hearing Reagan speak during the 80s, and thought he was also inspiring.

Communicating to the nation is one of the most important tasks a President has. We are governed only by consent of the People.

me too, but more people are far more concerned about their career rather than the people of the USA. both sides sell us out for the sake yet another win at the polls.

I am in total agreement with Trailmix and Scandal.

The Massachusetts voters disagree. And they're liberal as F###.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Ok, so he's an inspirational speaker....but he hasn't done one thing he's promised in ANY of his campaign speeches...shouldn't there be substance behind the words, or is the 'feel good factor' enough?

I'm not trying to sound snarky here, I'm honestly interested
