i also work with a lot of foreign born engineers ... from top schools ... and english is a second language. re-writes of papers are common and it usually takes marcomm and the engineering team time to decipher their write-ups. legal won't even look at the papers until the grammar is above a 6th grade level. hence ... deadlines are interesting or missed.

nice thing about engineers of this type ... they are cheap to hire.

if the peers english skills are no better ... someone has to clean up the mess before legal can read ... unless you publish for yourself or academia.

if you are working ... typically legal for the company wants to review.

True, my current area is legal, but I've written several tech manuals for software I've designed for my business and consulting services. Legal definitely wants a perusal and they demand that the wrting be clear and concise. That's difficult to do without at least college level language skills. Language is currency.

Today's ruling is another nail in the coffin for democracy in this country, it has given big money/corporations the freedom to dictate who can run the country. The whole point of democracy was to take the power away from the wallet (ie the rich who called the shots) and into the hands of the people. Presidents, Senators and Representatives will no longer be "elected" but "purchased".........we're on our way towards a fascist system.

I'm disturbed by this ruling, too, although I understand the logic. I'm going to have to read the decision before I can say much more than that.

One would hope that they learn the right lesson - don't retract but grow some balls and push the agenda you've been elected to push. Rest assured, though, that that lesson won't be learned. Balls have become a rare commodity in politics.

The people gave them an agenda, a majority in congress and the white house. What did they do with it, they keep Pu$$y footing around with the republican, they show NO BALLS, and felt right through the republican trap, Stuff that even a little kid can see what's happening or any mom who have kids that keep throwing tantrum when they can't get their way.

The republican don't have nothing to gain by working with the democrats, from DAY ONE, they are asking and wishing for the Failure of the president (and they call that Patriotic). with that in Mind,

You didn't read the piece quoted in the OP, did you? Those that could have put her into office stayed home. I'd suspect they didn't stay home for what you erroneously refer to as a far left agenda being pushed but for the lack of that happening.

No takeover of health care has been proposed or was anywhere near any discussion of Congress. What's pending is anything but a takeover - it's largely a health care corporate welfare bill. This is why the base stayed home - they're mad at the Dem's inability to translate the solid majorities given to them into an advancement of a progressive agenda.

As for the getting out the vote in that election, I tend to think that the huge hangover from the koolaid that was doled out to the sheep was finally going away. Eventually the reality had to come that Obama the Socialist and his cohorts are just a retread of past failed policies that the Socialists have been trying to shove down our throats for many decades. Everyone had gotten tired of those failed policies so they voted for the Neocon pukes. The Neocons were failing and no one learns from history so the sheep went Socialist.
