 I got an e-mail from the US Embassy today that my schedule for the interview will be on January 24, but according to the letter I received from NVC my schedule is on January 25

If I will go to the Embassy on the date they gave me, will they accept the e-mail they sent me as proof that I have an schedule on that day?

I am hundreds of kilometers away in Riyadh and getting a flight booking is very hard when your date of departure is getting nearer.

I already purchased my ticket dated on January 25, but now I am having trouble of having it re-book.

Which one I will follow guys, the NVC appointment letter or the e-mail from the embassy?:wacko:

I am trying to call them but the only person who answers me is a very rude operator and if they will transfer you to the section you are asking no one anwers it but an automated message saying leave your name and telephone numbers and he will call me back, luckily after that message there's another automated message saying, this voice mail box can no longer accept messages, thank you for calling!! Augh!! :ranting:

If you received an email from the embassy stating the 24th then that is the date your interview is scheduled. Take the e-mail with you to the embassy. If you can't successfully get to the embassy on the 24th due to a misunderstanding then send an email to RiyadhIV@state.gov explaining what happened and that you had made arrangements to attend on 25th. They are pretty good about responding to e-mails, you can forget the phone... That is a waste of time and energy. Besides the Riyadh embassy is closed on Thursday and Friday every week.

I doubt if they want to interview you on a Sunday (24th). I think someone at the embassy made a mistake. The 4 and the 5 are situated right next to each other on the keyboard. I would go on the 25th (Monday) with my letter from the NVC and all other required documents.

I'd be a little worried too though, but not too much. Be confident!

P&S

NVC:

2009-09-11 - NVC received.

2009-12-17 - Case complete e-mail message, sign in failed on website and AVR... YAY!

2009-12-17 - Waiting for an appointment assignment...

2009-12-29 - Interview assigned: February 11, 2010!

2010-01-06 - Case forwarded to consulate.

Consulate:

2010-01-12 - Medical exam part 1 of 2 complete.

2010-01-26 - Medical exam part 2 of 2 complete. Ouchie!

2010-02-11 - Interview results: Administrative Processing 221(g) :-(

2010-04-27 - 2nd interview results: Approved :-)

2010-05-04 - Visa in hand!

2010-05-08 - POE

I am so amazed when you said that they are pretty good answering e-mails, my first e-mail was answered morethan one week.

and that was the time they informed me that my interview will be on the 24th of January.

This confusion is really giving me an headache, one more thing, it's not that easy to find a flight to Riyadh when your departure date is just one day ahead from making a reservation.

I had my flight confirmed for January 25 and I had that reservation on the first week of January, today, I am fortunate enough to had my flight confirmed for this afternoon and I can no longer find any booking aside from that date.

It's okay about the day, because Sunday here is just like Tuesday in our regular calendar. Because the week starts on Saturday not Monday.

What I am worried about is that, maybe, once I get there they might not honor the e-mail I got from one of their employees.

I believe the letter that came from the NVC is the most valid to show that you have an interview on that date.

Anyhow, I am going to Riyadh today after my work, and stay there until 25 of January just incase they will tell me that my interview is not 24 but 25, I will not have problem. Dammam is hundreds of kilometers from Riyadh and it will take one hour by plane, 7 hours by bus and 5 hours by train.

Okay, I misunderstood. I thought you were flying to Philippines where office hours are listed as M-F. I see the hours are Sa-Wed in Saudi. Go with letter and confidence. I think you'll be fine. I'm glad you can go today. It's nice to have the option although it is probably quite inconvenient. All this stress and expense over what is very likely a clerical error on the consulate/embassy side. :wow::angry:
