I do not know what to make of this. Give me your thoughts. My hands are still shaking... :wow:

The US Embassy in Damascus called me this morning. The officer apologized for calling on a holiday (MLK Day), stated who he was (I got his name), and proceeded to tell me that they realize it has been a long time between the interview and now due my SO being Iraqi. He had a note from his superior that he needed to call me to verify that I was still involved in the relationship. At that point I was basically screaming-yes, oh yes!

From what I could gather, it sounded like they had a few more things to do- but needed this verification to push it through. He said he will not get his visa tomorrow, but he gave me the impression that things were close.

Dang-I wish there would have been some way I could have recorded that phone call. I almost didn't pick it up because it is usually someone trying to sell me something. When he started to talk, I heard the word "officer" and didn't hang up because I have a hard time hanging up on our local police officers when they collect money for a local charity. Am I ever glad I didn't hang up! Whew!

We have been in AP since last April. If there is anyone out there who has been in AP a long time and had a similar phone call- please let me know. What I question is why they had to call to verify. I want to keep this POSITIVE.. and I pray that this means we are close! (and not that they just found our file on the bottom of someone's pile and said "oops") What do you all think?

This was good news for us today- it is his 40th birthday today as well so this was a good birthday surprise.

Thank you all.

They probably called because of the length of the delay in the visa issuance.

Probably covering the bases -some people grow apart after a long time apart (more so with K-1's)

Looks like things are moving now.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

It sounds good .I have been under AP for almost 10 months .people from DOS visited my fiancee '' the USC'' instead of calling her .

It seems like they are working on your case .

I hope that you will hear good news soon inshaallah .

Newsflash-

My SO just called me. (it is 7am here) The embassy called him and told him to send his passport via DHL. From what I have read on this site, this means GOOD NEWS. My hands are still shaking. This was the call I have been waiting for. Oh my gosh. Hard to let my guard down though until we have that airplane ticket in hand and he takes off for the US.

Thank you all!

wellmux- he did submit his passport to the DHL- which surprisingly to me, was right next to the embassy. (?) They told him to get the original letter we received when the interview was over. (the one that we needed one more item I think) They told him it will be ready either Thursday or Sunday. (weekends=Friday/Sat) Want him to submit all his identification so that DHL can show embassy that they have permission to take passport back. To me, this all sounds shady. I do not like the idea of him giving all his id away- especially being a temp resident in Syria.

We are working on getting that temporary residence thing as well. Long story- but he needs something to show he was in Syria with permission- otherwise they will want LOTS of bribe money to let him out of the airport. We do not want ANY hassles.

Thank you for your well-wishes. I am trying to keep on low-fire here until passport is stamped and he is on that plane. Anything can happen between now and then.

Baj.
