Weight Watchers clinic floor collapses under dieters

The floor of a Weight Watchers clinic in Sweden collapsed beneath a group of 20 members of the weight loss programme who were gathered for a meeting.

As the dieters queued to see how many pounds they had shed, the floor beneath them in the clinic in Växjö, in south-central Sweden, began to rumble, according to a report in The Local, Sweden's English-language newspaper.

"We suddenly heard a huge thud; we almost thought it was an earthquake and everything flew up in the air.

"The floor collapsed in one corner of the room and along the walls," one Weight Watchers participant told the Smålandsposten newspaper.

Soon, the fault lines spread around the room, and other sections of the floor gave way.

Luckily, all of the dieters escaped uninjured and managed to move the scales to the corridor, which was not damaged in the accident, and were able to complete their weekly weigh in.

The cause of the floor's collapse remains under investigation.

We have a WW meeting group that meets in a strip mall right around the corner from where we live, one day I was quite surprised to see who came out of the meeting, I was expecting everone to be like 250 + lb's, not so, many of them were pretty average size, a lot of people keep going to WW even after they've lost the weight, it's for maintenance I was told... I say the floor was probably old too.

This political correctness is so bizarre to me... I thought America was all about freedom of speech and such...

People make fun of other people, that's just the way it's always been and probably will be, sure it's easier to type ####### out on an internet website than to say it out loud in public, but come on, don't be naive, whenever people see something that's odd, they stare and make fun, whether they elbow their buddy to have a look too, or just keep the thought to themselves or slur an insult your way, people do it, it's just human nature. We all know it's more polite to not make fun out loud, but if you have a problem you're constantly being 'teased' about and you have a problem with being teased about it, and this problem can be eliminated by Yourself, sort it out!!

Obese people have it bad though because their "problem" is so out there, where other problems like alcoholism, drug abuse can be out of sight, but I bet you if these addicts were to have a sign hanging around their necks saying "I'm a druggie" or "I'm an alcoholic" people would make fun just as much as they do about obese people.

My thought: If your problem is something you can control, rather than spending the energy on complaining about being made fun of, go spend the energy on doing something about it... If it's something you can't control, then just stop worrying about what people are saying, just keep in mind that most people are pretty much shallow and judge others on overall appearance, nothing you can do to change that, again it's just human nature, just concentrate on other areas of your life where you can improve your self confidence and surround yourself with people who don't drag you down...

The only thing you can do about the fact that so many people are shallow and judgmental is to not be that way yourself. There was hardly any whining about making fun of fat people in this thread at all actually, not much energy spent on it. If people want to be jerks, they are free to be.
