Yes there are crazy people in every religion. But Steven_and_Jinky (who I really have no problems with) is basically saying that anyone who believes that there is only one truth is infantile and misguided. I believe in only one truth, and one way...and I am allowed to. Anyone can think it's crazy, but why insult the beliefs just for the sake of the beliefs that you don't like, which aren't wishing harm on anyone.

As a Catholic I also believe that Christ is the Truth and the Light, but that doesn't mean heaven is exclusive to only Christians. In my opinion, believing that everyone else is damned unless they also become Christian is really preventing us from loving and accepting others persuit of truth. God's revelation is not exclusive to the Bible or Christianity - I believe that truth can be experienced in many forms and avenues. I just don't want to box up God and think that I can fathom His infinite love and wisdom.

there are all kinds of christian nutcases....jim jones (guyana), kareesh, jim and tammi baker, oral roberts, nutcase mormon poligimists running around here where I live and on and on..

Who was the guy that cried on his TV program for forgiveness when thay caught him with a hooker???...that was bilking his followers. Most of the tele-evangalists are nut cases extremists. Oral Roberts , Jim and Tammi, etc, lived in Palm Springs and drove around in Rolls-Royce's. The nut cases were also the people whe sent their money to these nutcases also.

but I never heard anyone tell their followers that it was OK to strap on some explosives and go to a crowded market place to kill as many ppl as possible as being santioned by their diety.

Those are your beliefs, and everyone has a right to have their beliefs, whether we agree or not. I have some different opinions than you, and we can agree to disagree. But some people just insult others instead of saying "I don't agree" or "I don't believe in that". I'd rather here a flat out "I don't believe in that" or "That's not true", than to hear "you're stupid, infantile, etc" type of stuff.

There was no canon of scripture in the early Church; there was no Bible. The Bible is the book of the Church; she is not the Church of the Bible. It was the Church--her leadership, faithful people--guided by the authority of the Spirit of Truth which discovered the books inspired by God in their writing. The Church did not create the canon; she discerned the canon. Fixed canons of the Old and New Testaments, hence the Bible, were not known much before the end of the 2nd and early 3rd century.

i seem to be the only person with this knowledge..... the bible says that the end times will come when people least expect it. since so many people are expecting it to happen any second now, lots of people will be dissapointed when it doesn't arrive.

I know that too...but the bible did tell us signs of the end time coming in Revelations and other parts of the bible as well. We won't know the exact day or moment, but we can see signs happening, that are supposed to be before it happens. Still we won't have a real idea of when, but there are things that are supposed to happen, according to the Bible, before the end. I doubt most Christians are expecting to happen at any moment, but some may expect it in the near future. I don't know when it will happen and am not going to fret about it. If I am living the way I think God wants me to, then why do I need to worry? But for many Christians it IS a nice idea to be reunited with their savior...just like ppl on VJ want to be reunited with their loved ones. Hoping it happens soon is not crazy, it's normal to do when you are waiting for someone you love. My humble opinions of course.
